It's this type of game that clarifies your position as a team, after two emphatic wins against poor opposition,we give away a two goal lead against a team Spurs beat 5-1 at the same ground only a couple of weeks ago .Puts the premature talk of a CL place firmly in perspective.

Azplicueta taking a yellow for stopping Spurs take a free kick quickly, something we should have done yesterday.

Kone not closing down the first goal from being struck.

Not one defender staying switched on for the 3rd and miles of space for league 1 claws players to run into.

I've said it before under the current set up their us simply no leadership or defensive structure to this side. Like moyes' lack of attacking ability cost us winning anything martinez's lack of defensive nous will also cost us.

It's so important to find a balance.

Would you say Arsenal are a good CL place contender? They lost at WBA and we won there after being 2 down. Yes, we did let a 2 goal lead slip, but as long as this young team learn from it thats a good learning curve.

If Barkley could finish he would be world class.

Gutted Kiev won they look set to qualify past the group stage. That's our chance of getting Yarmolenko in january most likely gone can't see the owner selling him.

Was an absolute cowardice performance. No one with the guts to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Deloufeu picked up a knock which slowed him down and once it did the counter attack plan went out the window as Kone has no pace. Coleman also needs to start showing more going forward as he sure isn't at the back.

That 2nd half was one of the worst performances ive seen in a good few seasons.

4 points ahead of us despite having EL to contend with. Compare that to how we were blowing out our arses last season with having 2 games a week to contend with shows the gulf of where we are it currently.

Cheer up lad

And Spurs could only draw against the team we beat 3-1.

These "comparisons" with other teams results therefor meaning we're not gonna finish in a certain position are utterly ridiculous.

Palace: we'll beat them. I'm more concerned about Boro away than Palace at home.

Me an all.

Yesterday reminded me a bit of the game at WHL last season, though. Not that we simply hit the wall & ran out of ideas and our arses visibly went yesterday (like what happened at spurs last season) but because of the stark contrasts in the respective 2nd halves of both games.

I sincerely hope that'll be the last we see of yesterday's performance throughout the remainder of this season. I hope that's made the players see their arses.

Should be played back to them every time we go in at H/T as a reminder, imo.

If they learn from playing like a bunch of tits in the second half then sure, yesterday was fine. But its just a reminder of what a constant ethos with this team to only play well in 1 half. Thats concentration and coaching. Thats on Martinez.

Well, last week I posted boasting that my 'arl fella was the reason we have been winning at home lately.

Sadly, yesterday its the opposite. My son was one of the pitch invaders and whilst clearly not entirely to blame, they are the reason why additional time was played. Me telling him this about 15 minutes after the game had ended was difficult for hime to take.
.
I don't understand how people are still saying this. They delayed the restart but had no part in any additional time. Ref added a minimum of 5 mins. We scored with a minimum of 15 secs left. We made a sub so a minimum of 45 secs. They equalised 49 seconds later.

Meanwhile today spurs drew 0-0 at home with a team we emphatically put away 3-1 at our ground this season. Also should we put away Palace next Monday we will have beaten a team that emphatically put away Liverpool at their ground 3-1 the other week, both teams of which are being talked about non stop as being in contention for the CL places

Just saw the highlights and the defending was poor for the goals. First one we didn't get out and close him down and the other two were just a joke, was so easy. Just hope we can forget about this and turn up on Tuesday!

Average run of the mill season. We're playing some of the best stuff we've seen from Everton players for over a decade and more.

I'm sorry, this has not been 'run of the mill'.

From the point of view of entertainment I think we are playing better stuff now than we have in 25 years. We have a young team, and we will make mistakes along the way but the curve is upwards and notwithstanding the strength of competition around us in a better position to compete since 2008/9.

But all of the top 4 will win at Bournmouth, and the Chelsea of today are not the Chelsea we beat.I'm not denigrating us as a team, just being realistic, with the money we have EL is the best we can hope for

im still not over this, thought when we went 2 up it was going to be a case of how many. only everton can do that. roll on tuesday.

Me neither. I don't mind getting beat or drawing but I can't accept giving points away because of complacent players and management. I'm generally a Martinez fan but his lack of in game management is really starting to do my head in. Why does he always change things after the event? We began that second half on the back foot and stayed their for 45 mins. We could all see the way the game was going. Why didn't we push up and play possession instead of trying to counter attack when it was clear our tactics were just inviting pressure? Why did he leave Kone, Del and Barkley on for so long? Two of them had to come off after 65 mins. They were just giving the ball away continually and offered nothing defensively.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and maybe Matinez is in a way to be blamed. But I really believe that focus and concentration for longer than 45 minutes is a given for a team and its players. And it's kind of sad that a coach should remind the players of this. Maybe we could use one or two leaders on the pitch who'll wake the rest up when they're falling asleep.
