The idea of afterlife was devised to ensure good behaviour from the populous with the fear they miss out on something good or heroic or galloped ones if they weren't good in thus life. Either that or they'd be reincarnated as something vile, like a gonorrhoea bacterium or a rs.

We are just a bag of chemical reactions maintaining neurons that have learned and familiar pathways. The reactions are fueled by the energy released in respiration and once something disrupts that energy release, the reactions stop. All the energy stored from those reactions is slowly released by decay and follows the law if thermodynamics such that it leaves the decaying order of the body and is issued as low grade eat, eventually spreading through the universe, so thinly so as to be imperceptible. In time all energy lost from all things once living will end up this way as part of the inevitable heat death of the universe.

So in the meantime, let us enjoy cake.
 
Before my dad passed he was never really religious and his beliefs was you live on through your jeans son daughter or so forth, probably right imo. Not armani or levis tho chico ?
