I've been going to Ireland matches for years, he has no delivery, end of. Although he does create a lot of opportunities for others as teams tend to double up on him as he skins the life out of defenders. Admittedly its usually poor teams that do that.

The real draw back against him for me is that he tends to switch off defensively a lot, especially when he is feeling sorry for himself when he hits the first man with a corner, again.

Under Trapatoni he got no support from the fullback (hence the doubling-up from defenders), he's already playing better since.

I dont think you can put that solely down to Trappatoni, one of his duties under Traps "system" was to track back, which is a flaw in his game. I also think every player is playing better since the regime change.

He can be brilliant when he is on his game.

In fairness he did improve defensively under Trap, quite noticeably for me. He would have probably been out of the team otherwise.

If he is cheap and not on high wages then he would be a good squad addition who would push hard for a first team place. If we can put up with the likes of Naismith and Jelavic on the bench we can be happy with McGeady. A definite improvement and we saw in our last game exactly how he would be needed. Id prefer not to see Naismith come in again.

What we need are players who can beat a man and create a chance out of nothing against the poorer teams in the league. Teams who defend with everyone behind the ball etc... Gives bobby another option in breaking them down. If he does it against the top sides great but as the Sunderland game proved when delefeou is out we are lacking a bit
