They basically agree the pre-contract so it's sorted that he's moving at the end of the season free regardless. The selling club are then left in a situation where do they want to be stuck with a player taking wages and more than likely not interested in playing for selling club anymore and certainly not wanting to risk injury to himself....Or do they just let him go for next to nothing and save on wages.

Takes the power out of selling clubs hands basically. If a pre-contract is not already agree'd then they can barter price etc.

Don't beat yourself up lad this is what it's about ..... the manager SHOULD have better judgement relax in the knowledge Bobby is in charge and join with us all as we giggle at ourselves in the mirror when his signings prove uber boss when we suspect gashness.

McGeady is back home in Glasgow with his family; I cant see him going back to Russia to play mid-March onward when their winter break ends if he's going to sign for us a few months later. I'd imagine a deal of sorts to be struck and he'll be playing over here for the rest of this season...whichever team he joins.

How do you think he'll fit in Dave ? Would he be a signing to delight you ?

Doesn't really delight me, no. I can see the logic of another winger so that Mirallas is able to be used as a striker if Lukaku goers down to injury.

If we're looking to get players on the cheap we could wait for Albrighton at Villa - in the final year of his contract and I dont think Lambert fancies him. I've always thought he looked very decent and someone like Martinez could get the best out of a winger like him. Only just turned 24 too.
 

Gonna stick my neck out and say that if we do get him, he'd be semi-boss.
Pacey and tricky, with a proven goalscoring history. Looks like he could be more than useful.

If he basically comes for zero transfer fee then its a no brainer for me.
 
Think it'd be a decent signing myself. He doesn't need to be able to cross the ball, what we need him to be able to do is to be able to control a ball in tight situations, move with pace and look for the overlap from the wing back or the simple ball to feet for Lukaku. We don't play Mirallas/Pienaar as traditional wingers; they're both inside forwards. It's always Baines/Coleman/Oviedo who deliver the wideplay.

From what I've seen of McGeady, he ticks a lot of boxes and the price is right. People need to get a grip; this isn't a marquee signing, it's a low risk squad signing.
