Gaffney goal ensures Rovers edge out Harps
A Rory Gaffney daisycutter right before half-time proved to be the only goal as Shamrock Rovers squeezed past Finn Harps 1-0 in Ballybofey.www.rte.ie
Dundalk win comfortably so as we were.
Cork continue to storm in Division 1....but sad to see Bray so weak.
Hopefully the signing of Louis Britton is enough to get us over the line, strengthens us and weakens Waterford. Beat Galway in two weeks time and you could nearly start calling those pints BlueroverThey should be in the Prem. Must meet with @NeroCeasar for a pint next season.
I'll certainly take that. What do you expect from a redhead from Gaillimh ?Rovers comfortable here but Gaffney is one lucky boy
Bray merged with Cabinteely FC last year, although in truth it was a takeover. The club is still named Bray but in reality its Cabinteely- the board, the management are all Cabinteely. How are Bray Wanderers doing these days? Curious, as we came over and played them in a friendly back in 1995 and always liked to see how they were doing. They got relegated to the second division a year or two back?
Have they. Tbh never heard of Cabinteely FC. Agree it is sad if its been a takeover. Remember the game against Bray very well. Was a pre-season game and lost 4-1. Maybe you were at the game? Afterwards the club put on food and drinks at a local hotel along the front and they were very welcoming and friendly and was a good night after the game.Bray merged with Cabinteely FC last year, although in truth it was a takeover. Sad really, I've been a Bray fan since the late 80's.
Currently mid division in the 1st Division with o chance of promotion and only a handful of fans left. Winning 2-1 away to Athlone Town this evening with 10 to go.
Yeah I was there, Scott Gemmell ran the show iirc. I think it was a mid season game -- fa cup 4th or 5th round where we had no game.Have they. Tbh never heard of Cabinteely FC. I hope their fortunes pick up and get back into the top league again soon and get the fans back, as their were quite a few at the game when we played them.
Sorry dont know any of the Bray players but do remember the Bray players were going in really hard most of the time even though just a pre-season friendly and am trying to remember if one of the Queen's Park players got sent off for retaliating to one of the tackles, maybe wrong. Was the League of Ireland playing their season in the summer back then in 1995, as the game was played on a Saturday evening in July.Yeah I was there, Scott Gemmell ran the show iirc. I think we're talking about different matches. Yeah it's been a summer league simce the 90's when Sky wanted to broadcast in Ireland they struck a deal to put floodlights into every league ground so the league could move from Sunday to Friday.Sorry dont know any of the Bray players but do remember the Bray players were going in really hard most of the time even though just a pre-season friendly and am trying to remember if one of the Queen's Park players got sent off for retaliating to one of the tackles, maybe wrong.
