2019/20 Alex Iwobi

Thought his workrate was a disgrace today, would be very interested to see his running stats. Literally didn't see him in our defensive third at all while he was on the pitch, no wonder we were picked apart at ease on that side. Arsenal well and truly saw us coming with his same - again diabolical from whoever sanctioned his signing.

Players obviously have positions that suit their playing style over others, but I absolutely refuse to believe that just because your standing in a different patch of grass than where you'd want to be, your performance should be dramatically negaitevly effected. It's not like he's being asked to play left back.

It's not like he's being asked to hug the touchline either, he's being played often as an inside winger to leave space down the flanks for the full back to exploit. His problem isn't where he's playing, it's that he's got zero skill and zero pace. That's exposed a bit more when he's playing wide because he'll often find himself one v one with the full back, who he isn't going to beat, but he'd still have those glaring deficiencies even if he's moved inside.

The performance against West Ham earlier in the season where he played as a 10 was very encouraging at the time, but I think it's quite telling that even though Silva's formation had room for a 10 he very rarely went back and put Iwobi back there.

He deserves more opportunities until the end of the season to see if there's anything we can salvage from him as an Everton player, but I'm not very optimistic he will ever come good for us. If I was manager I'd be bringing Walcott on 9 times out of 10 before Iwobi - and I don't rate Walcott.

As we went over before, I am fair with Bernard. But since no one else wants to be, it looks harsh. If you all would stop giving him credit for every single little thing it would look different.

I mean hell, people are in the match thread saying how Bernard and Gomes changed the game like Gomes being excellent was somehow a little bit attributable to Bernard since he came on at the same time.

Yeah whatever.

You guys keep pretending that he's crucial to us and crapping on every other player who dare play instead. We weren't better on the right once he came on and yet that seems to be the perception on here. It is every week.
The difference between you and me is that I care only about Everton winning games and that individuals who do not contribute to that can do one. You seem to care about spurious stats and everybody getting on board with your peculiar, and obviously biased, interpretation of what occurred in a match to score points on an internet forum. So much so that you will defend a forward player with 1 goal and 0 assists in 18 league appearances to make some sort of stand against some sort of injustice that exists only in your head. Get a hobby.

And are you satisfied currently with the amount of games Everton win? Because I'm not, which is why aside from basically Richarlison, Digne, DCL and maybe Gomes, I think all our players are average and couldn't care less if we bin any of the rest off.

But I don't like the attitude among the fans where everyone is either God and immune from criticism (Bernard, Holgate at times, Gomes) or dog poo and not worthy of any kind of decency (Iwobi, DCL prior to the last 2 months, Keane). It's soooo dumb. And that's why I go against the grain on some of those.

I will point out once again that, despite your bizarre claims of fairness, you participate in the exact thing you rail against in your second paragraph. If you can't see it, then it confirms your lack of perspective. Everyone else is wrong and you are right, apparently.

Again we already talked about this.

I said he isn't as good as Willian (not a criticism), I rate DCL higher (not a criticism), that he isn't a saint (this is just weirdness from Evertonians surrounding him), and that our fans seem to rate him more than others (which is true of lots of players and supporters) and that you shouldn't have to stop watching football if that's the case (which is the most rubbish that anyone spouts really, different opinions are allowed).

Also said his goal was superb and that I think he's played much better under Ancelotti. So maybe you should stop looking for criticism in all my posts.

You thought my posts that I summed up here was me being unduly critical. They weren't. End of.

If that was your only comment, then maybe it would be fair enough. But it's not, is it? You are constantly banging the same drum. It's an obsession for you, just look at the Iwobi and Bernard threads, no one posts in them as frequently as you do. You are a professional Bernard-basher whilst simultaneously crying about people picking on other players (most notably Iwobi, I thought you'd turned a corner on that but today you were right back up on that horse). As I said, you've completely lost perspective, tilting at windmills and calling everyone out who disagrees with you. Bernard isn't as good as some people on here say and he's way better than you say he is, Iwobi is worse than you present him to be but probably isn't as terrible as some other posters make out. It's an internet fan forum, FFS, everything is either the best or the worst thing ever and you, yes you, are as guilty of that as everyone else.

Again though, I'm really not saying Iwobi is the best player ever, nor have I said Bernard is the worst. So I mean I'd challenge that assertion in this instance but whatever, it isn't worth going any further. I try to be balanced and not do the best thing/worst thing bit, but I'm not perfect. At this point it doesn't matter what I post, you'll be there to call me out.

I post a lot in these threads because these are the two I disagree with the most and feel there's discussion to be had the most. These two and DCL, but the DCL one is legit off the walls, so I don't say as much.

Still pretty stunned at that Iwoeful performance.

Could see it coming after he skied a shot when he should have passed, shot again instead of squaring and then (almost comically at this point) missed the target with the whole goal to aim at.

It smacked of a lazy performance with him seeing his name in the papers as a goalscorer against his former club.

At this time we have Iwobi, Bernard and Gordon for the left sided place...and the two senior definitely cant play on the right.

We could make use of Iwobi in a 442 diamond but at this point its very hard to see past a £34mil sub.

Of course.
