I think Iwobi was a bit of a panic buy. He is a good enough player and could do well for a counter attacking team. I feel his type of play isn't suited to a team which wants to play a quick passing game, he doesn't seem to fit that bill for me.

No the thinking is right. By players who have skills we need and time to find their feet. As opposed to buying players like Sigurdsson and Schneiderlin who are decent but won't get better.I’m sure somewhere on this thread, I just saw signing iwobi and kean is exactly the way the club needs to go on transfers. Ok, so sign players for loads of money, who can’t get in the team. A bad team.....
He's not a perfect player and when we've been using systems that don't give him options in midfield he's struggled some.I wouldnt have been a confirmed Pienaar fan, i always thought he had way more in his locker then he achieved, but he was very good at doing this also, a Knitter.
I think Iwobi thrives in tight spaces in advanced positions, when players are bunched, less so when play is spread, maybe its the Arsenal in him, that was his upbringing.
I don't watch actual football to see tricks and such. Fun players for me are the ones who put the ball in the net or set up others to do that.Hunt every post down, lol. They really aren't hard to find as they're in every thread.
There is a massive difference between Bernard and the other players you mention. He's fun to watch, I know some people don't care about that but if football isn't entertainment then I don't understand what it's for. Iwobi has no end product and is not fun to watch but, according to you at least, is the right kind of signing. Baffling.
The notion that every player peaks at 26-29 is a myth. Yes, some players improve, there are examples both ways. I’m not calling for this thread to start listing drogbas, Vardys and Calvert lewins compared to fowlers, rooneys and Owen. It’s just a risky strategy to buy young players and assume their value will increase or their ability improve. Most players at iwobis age and with the number of games under his belt will have plateaued. There’s room for improvement obviously, but I don’t see him suddenly becoming a scoring threat or creative cog which is exactly what we need from an attacking mid/winger.No the thinking is right. So, not Iwobi then?I don't watch actual football to see tricks and such. Fun players for me are the ones who put the ball in the net or set up others to do that.
Don’t think you’ll get much fun watching Iwobi, sorry to say.I don't watch actual football to see tricks and such. Fun players for me are the ones who put the ball in the net or set up others to do that.
Yeah I would not say Iwobi is someone I enjoy watching right now. Actually in our team the list is Richarlison, DCL and on occasion Gomes. So, not Iwobi then?
That isn't what my point was.Don’t think you’ll get much fun watching Iwobi, sorry to say.

It doesn't mean I think everyone else is horrible though. Or that none of the others are useful or could be useful.
I'd honestly say it is less risky. If we were buying everyone at 18 it would be different, but buying a 22 year old who is at PL level already and hoping to make them into a top class player isn't very risky as worst case is you have a squad player for a few years that still has some value to move on at the end.The notion that every player peaks at 26-29 is a myth. The last time Bernard was fun to watch was like Leicester away last season when Sigurdsson scored that belter to win it. Since then it has been frustration as he fails to find end product after all the other good stuff he does.Little Bernie.
Sorry, I must have misunderstood you, what was your point? That isn't what my point was.
