We missed a trick with Maddison.iwobi seems to do everything and the final ball is terrible.

It was his perfectly weighted pass to Sidibe, played in front of him to maintain our momentum going forward, that then led to Sidibe's excellent ball in from Richarlison scored.

But OK, his final ball is terrible.
I mean yea, he could do better, but he could do a lot worse too

Arsenal are poor and they couldn't wait to get shut.

Is that the same Arsenal where Iwobi got a cup winners medal, made an appearance in a Europa League final and, in the three seasons where he featured heavily, they finished fifth or sixth ? Plainly they're not been the force they were, but to call them poor based on their current form is a bit dumb.

I'd have been reasonably happy if we'd been that "poor" over the last few seasons.

This season they are poor that's a fact and yet they still didn't want him, I'm not into what they may or may not have done in the past.

He's our level whether people like it or not, Has glimpses of talent but not enough consistency to make him into a top player but he has the attributes and skill set to certainly become a top player, I liked what I've seen so far he can be a bit careless but he needs be played through the middle every game. Stop arsing about and moving him all the time.

He needs a manager who will push him to the next level. Not really sure if that is Silva. Have any players really improved considerably since he arrived?

I just don't understand this signing. Brands explanation was he wanted some competition for Gylfi. But for $40 million? I expect more than that. He'll be in and out of starts and games all season. We need better than this guy to take us to the next level. I'm beginning to really dislike the phrase "he's only young, he'll get better".

Seems to be the narrative of a lot of our players who simply aren't good enough. It's OK though, maybe if we manage to keep exactly the same team for the next 5 years, and all these young players improve at a remarkable rate, we'll be half decent.......

Gotta be a bit realistic though, we're a few years away from buying the finished article. Right now we're in that stepping stone position that every non-billionaire funded team has been in at some point over the years.

First off his ability to pass the ball forward is top class. Very few players who are more consistent with getting it into dangerous areas. The key is finding out how to best incorporate that into the team since it doesn't look like he's at the same level with chance creation and goal scoring.

The second thing is that we are simply not good enough to buy players who are the finished product and at the level we want our team to be. There are two ways to get players at that level. One is to cherry pick the ones who are undervalued for some reason at bigger clubs. That's essentially what we did with Digne. But there are only so many of those around. The other, more effective way is to buy young players and turn them from good to great. We cannot simply go out and buy top class players very often because other clubs that have more attractive qualities will also want those players.

In the same bracket as Gomes, Bernard, Sidibe, Davies, Holgate (for now), Walcott, Sigurdsson, Keane, probably Delph and Coleman as players that are absolutely fine to have as squad members, starting limited numbers of games, but of whom we can't afford more than a couple in our first XI regularly if we want to be challenging for the top 4 eventually. Hopefully Kean and Gbamin go on to show they're of higher quality than the above. As we miss Gana painfully and are currently relying on Richarlison to score half our goals.

For me, only Digne, Richarlison (for his goal return and work rate), Pickford and possibly Mina could fit into a top 4 first XI, at a push. Iwobi certainly doesn't for me.
A team is more than the sum of its parts.

How many of the 04/05 squad were top 4 players?

The sooner this team starts playing like one the better.
