2020/21 Alex Iwobi

He has been fit enough to play in the last 2-3 games. I'm not that bothered about that side, in all honesty, in terms of the last few games, as Iwobi has done okay when played there and we have other options (Godfrey/Holgate).

But on the other side we have no options and there is no excuse for Ancelotti not to play Nkounkou.

You say that he sees Delph as back-up, but i don't think that's the case either. Nkounkou played in the EFL Cup games and v Newcastle. Granted Delph coming back to fitness (lol) in the early part of the season. He also played Iwobi at LWB last week, rather than Delph.

He basically is going to a lot of daft lengths not to play Nkounkou, and there is one reason for that and that is Nkounkou's age.

Well, I'm sorry Carlo, but that doesn't cut it, because if you weren't happy with a 19/20 yr old as back-up to Digne (an integral part of how we play in terms of an attacking left-footer to add balance and width and who can get up and down all day), then we should have got somebody else in.
We had a lot of disagreements with Silva but I'm pretty on board with your assessment lately.

I love Carlo but what the ever loving hell is he doing lately?

He’s making plenty of mistakes Carlo at the moment but his handling of nkonkou and Gordon right now just baffles me. I’m not saying their amazing players but we all know Gordon can at least affect a game and offers pace and is direct. Nkonkou played against Newcastle. Did ok but it was a very poor performance overall and hasn’t been seen since. To not have them on the bench is absolute criminal right now and it’s potentially costing us points. It’s all hypothetical but if he at least tried players in their right positions and it didn’t work out, there wouldn’t be too many complaints. If you’re going to tinker with formations and square pegs when it isn’t necessary then you have to get the points. We are not and his decisions are now under scrutiny, quite rightly.
The statement he made of “I’m not here to develop players, just get us to the top” is frankly very strange. Carlo, you are here to develop players, you’re the manager.....crazy thing to say.

Looks ok bombing down the wing, shame he can't cross a decent ball !!
His build up play was was excellent. Got into good positions lots of times in the second half. Put two decent balls across that deserved better but the rest of his crosses were terrible.
it’s such an easy part of the game to work on. It shocks me that clubs don’t invest in ball striking coaches. With time and effort you would imagine all professional players could improve

Is Kenny fit? I dont think he is back fully fit.

And I like Nkounkou too, but clearly the manager sees the back up as Delph.

I agree with your analysis of where he should play as well, but given how the manager views the squad, our top 4 full backs are injured, which is having an impact on performances. Not many clubs could cope with that.
Kenny is fit.

Thought that apart from his crossing, especially near the end, he was one of the only bright sparks yesterday. Least of our problems I say, looks like he’s improving a bit, but as he’s already been written off by half the fan base as crap, he won’t win any of them over.

He’s also dross.
He’s what we have as back up in the right back position and should have been playing, end of. If he’s not good enough then get rid and replace but until then.... We’ve unsettled the whole team trying to play with a back three. Never mind Kenny being dross, i’m more interested in the team looking like dross and that’s been against some of the weaker teams in the league.
