Said it a while back, when he puts in an average performance we all get excited cause of how bad his usual standard is. He's nowhere even close to being good enough.

The idea of Iwobi having a good game constitutes passing it to a blue shirt more than once, controlling the ball once, maybe running with the ball once...oh and crossing a ball to a blue shirt.

90% of the time that doesn't happen.

Worked hard I defence, lost his man for the first goal but can't fault his effort. Showed some good footwork at times. Crossing wasn't good and at times ran into trouble. Would love him to get great at crossing. I remember Van Der Meyde being boss at crosses even when he was too hungover to run.

He’s not a right midfielder in a million years, at least not starting for a team looking to get in the mix for top 4. He’s toiling away manfully, we have nobody else to play there but it’s not a long term solution.

Out of possession and off the ball is where it really shows, particularly dealing with movement and runners off the ball - he switches off. He’s a forward brought up and schooled by Wenger at Arsenal, forwards didn’t have to defend - it was a similar ethos to Bobby Martinez here. He did an interview last year saying the biggest difference between Arsenal and Everton was that he had to defend and contribute out of possession and it shows.

Am not really enjoying 4411 so hopefully we don’t play it much next season. Seems like Carlo’s go to set up when he wants to play defensively though, which has been quite often this season, so we may well be seeing it again. Just hope we sign actual right and left midfielders to play it.
