A right winger played in a 0-0 a year ago so he must be giving 100% is a weird argument like.
More like a midfielder was asked to do a job in defense and did it meaning he's probably willing to work for the team when needed and wouldn't have been able to do the job if he hadn't put effort into it.

Must admit I’ve got a two responses limit on any debate (in most instances)... just can’t be bothered.. the tenacity and resilience by our posters in this thread is truly remarkable!

Not sure Iwobi deserves this much airtime.. in spite of the effort he puts in (or doesn’t).. cos he is truly not very good at anything other than running with the ball.

Hence the bolasie comparisons...

I put him slightly above Bolasie even before Bolasies injury. I think Iwobi is just one of them players that will only produce something one game in 8. So maybe 5 times a season if you persevere with him. Bolasie would be less and he would stink the place out more.

A product of the modern Premier League, earning a wage that is far beyond his input and importance to the side and it goes with 99% of them. I never used to be one who bothered about wages but the more half arsed performances I see the more it becomes an issue.

I really think something needs to be done about wages. you shouldn't be earning CL wages when you are a struggling mid table side all the time. It has to stop. players need to be hungry for success and a lot just aren't because success is secondary to wealth these days.

Well the only thing that can be done is sides stop paying ludicrous fees and giving players massive wages.

Relatively speaking, Iwobi probably isn't on 'that' much. He's not one of our highest earners, that's for sure. I mean, he'll be on like 70-80k which is obviously completely mad in real world terms, but in togger terms, not so much.

He's been a bad buy though. I don't know what Brands saw in him and as bad as Walsh was this signing has been up there with the worst of them when you consider £28m is the fee we paid for Lukaku (albeit 6.5 years ago now, I know).

The wage issue has become a problem in the modern gamer for me. no hunger for trophies and still paid millions. It takes a certain breed mentally to want to continue to win things when a millionaire. we don't have those types, we are seen as a mid table prem side who pays ridiculous wages, that's a problem for me.

It is a football wide issue, not just at Everton but we pay a lot higher wages for a non European team than others do

The Premier League has been rewarding failure for many years. We are just one of the market leaders in this regard. Poor incoming transfers by all five management teams since Moyes.

City will be expecting us to play the sort of line up that has attracted so much negativity on this forum so maybe we should try to outwit them by playing some of our "unknown" players rather like Liverpool did to us in the cup last season. Keep the defence solid and then throw in some youngsters who have more desire than that which a few senior players have been showing of late. If we are to believe the majority of posters in this thread there is little point in us turning up this evening
