2020/21 Alex Iwobi

Was amazed at the number of times he could give the ball away in the short time he was on. Really put us under pressure a few times, should never be trusted when we need to be defensive. Hes really going to have to pick it up this season or I think he knows hes gone next season.

It's got nothing to do with "ripping into him", Doucoure had a shocking first 20 minutes or so then gradually got into the game and played well.

Iwobi was on for 5 minutes or so and struggled to get into it like the rest of the team at the time who were dropping further and further back.

Iwobi was good in mid week too after a dodgy start. It can happen.

Agreed, he came on in difficult conditions at a time when we were trying to see the same out and simply didn’t get up to speed. Seen enough midweek to suggest he’s got something about him. May not be a long term option but no real harm done today.

He has a lot to offer in certain games and certain types of situations.

Today wasn't that.

Bernard should have been on. Unfortunately he's tiny and I guess Carlo wanted a physical presence instead of an actual midget on the pitch.

I like him but he's far too erratic on the ball for what we needed in the last 10 minutes today.

He was sharp Wednesday to be fair to him. Might have been a bit tired from Fleetwood. Still should be in better shape though coming into this one if that’s the case. Looked sluggish
As you say, if he's not fit enough to play a game on a Wednesday to do 10 mins on a Saturday then he needs to have a long look at himself. I think a more reasonable explanation is that he looked good against league 1 opposition and didn't handle the step up in quality against a typically bottom half premier league team. Delighted we won today but I worry about our squad depth in various positions.

It’s something to keep an eye on for certain. Carlo is persisting with him for a reason. We’ll see whether his faith is rewarded or not
