2021/22 Alex Iwobi

Everything he does is just so rushed.

It's like he wants to always make that killer pass when sometimes he's better just thinking things through a bit more. Or when he just does those pointless shots straight into a defender two yards ahead of him.

He played some nice passes today, but he's so inconsistent within every game.

We need far better to come in.

Consistency is really his biggest issue. He just dips too far in his bad moments and in his bad games. And he's not spectacular enough in the good ones to get away with that.

This is the thing. He did some really neat stuff today (that little pass for Doucoure in the first half over the top etc), but then he just does completely brainless things too.

It's not positioning either, because he plays in the same way whether he's central, right or left.

That being said, if we have the same players available v Utd, I'd rather have him central and Gray wide. But that's more because it'd get more out of Gray than Iwobi.

Get a feeling he might go five at the back though.

It’s either rushed or he slows the whole attack down to a standstill whilst he tries to work out what the best option is and then ultimately the opposition has regained their shape and the moment has passed.

I'd like to think that had he picked the ball up where Gray did today in the lead up to our second goal that he'd have made the same run and pass, but I can't hand on heart say I believe he definitely would do.

I do think he's better on the left. He's clearly more comfortable when he's not really required to use his left foot. But the other problems persist. He had a couple good passes into the box but we didn't make anything of them. We aren't really a team with the players to make anything of those. He doesn't have the technique to cross, he's Coleman like, yet we're a team that really needs crosses. It is always a bit off. We'll never get a stunning player.

He never commits to running past a man, when we counter if he gets the ball he always allows the defenders to regain shape and breaks down any counter we had. Immensely frustrating playground player, is brill with his mates but clueless at the match.

He’s not quick enough. He tried the McFadden trick of knocking it past a player and trying to run past him yesterday with the inevitable same result - the defender waltzes off easily with the ball.

According to our players he's one of the quickest in the squad and most skilful. Got to say I've never seen either, he's bloody atrocious.

Everything seems rushed because he's slow to react to begin with, slow with the micro movements that make the difference, cumbersome
he's a better option than Gomes though, who can't play and dribble in tight spaces
he's improved on last couple of seasons and is giving us more up the pitch
