Ask yourself that about our whole squad and we would end up with half dozen players.
His transfer fee is a sunk cost, his wages would need to be spread over any new contract term to make it comparable.
'If' we offered him a 3 year £100k a week contract, it would be the same as buying someone for £10m and paying them £35k a week.
Now, go out and find any players in the prem that have came for them numbers recently, and have been a success.

But that argument applies to the whole squad, do we keep renewing their contracts and increasing their wages be cause their contracts have been ammortised?

Are you asking me can we get a player then Iwobi for wages of 5.2 million a year - without question. As we know fees spent can be ammortised over years, in terms of the profit and loss.

Take someone like James Ward Prowse he’s on about 5.2 mill a year. Maddison 5.7 mill, Odengarrd 4.1 million. That’s the type of wage company and caliber of player you are suggesting we elevate Iwobi to and call it value - sorry mate not for me.

Mitoma cost less than £3m is only on £15k per week

Spot on. We need to get streetwise. No other club would offer those wages to him so why should we.

Myself I think that number of assists is a very undervalued stat, commentators should be referring to it much more often. And Iwobi's 7 assists this season put him in very good company - https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goal_assist .

You can also throw into the mix that he's versatile, and that under Dyche he's been playing some of his best football and working really hard for the team.
If James had them assists everyone would be drolling over the Instagram star

We don't have any decent players, we have been fighting relegation the past 2 seasons. There is nobody in this squad that would be missed. We just need to open our eyes when it comes to recruitment and realize that there is a world beyond the 'PL experience' zone.

It truely baffles me that our club goes for prem experience.
Townsend , bolasie, Williams, iwobi, walcott Godfrey all have prem experience … the problem is … they played in the prem and wernt anything special…. They have been tried and tested and didn’t pull up any trees so why sign them. I would rather sign someone who is excelling in another league ( depending. On the league obviously ) rather than signing a 5/10 player from the prem

Then don’t buy from the prem. If you keep him and players like him…. We will be battling relegation for a 3rd year in a row… and that is IF we stay up this year.

Most of the Brighton squad (Gross, March, Mitoma £2mill)
Olise at Palace - £8mill
Gnonto at Leeds - £4mill

There was a stat that half most of the Brighton squad cost less than Iwobi's transfer fee.

All those players have 4+ assists, same or more goals, younger. Have specialised positions they're very effective at.

Just need a good scouting DoF

My main criticism of him is his discipline on the ball. He has given it away too many times in the wrong areas and has to improve there. He does have a great touch has energy and can pass a ball. I honestly think with better players in front of him We would get a better return from him. I don’t think getting rid of Iwobi is a priority to be honest. We need a Cull at centre half and some cover a left back and good centre forward as competition for DCL and hopefully we will take a closer look at Cannon pre season. The midfield is looking better with Garner, Onana and Gueye. We’ve also got Gomes coming back after a full season of football and Dyche may take a look at him.

Id disagree, a bit with you there mate, the thing with Iwobi is he has no control to his game, he has vision - but its not top quality 5.2 million a year vision, but his passing isnt great in my opinion - by that i mean if you watch him he cant weight a pass, he can hit a ball into space, but passing hes not great - by that i mean he hits the ball far harder then he needs to, meaning the person receiving the ball often struggles to control it and leads toa breakdown.

His decision making on the ball in defensive positions is so so poor, how many times has he lost it trying to pass a square ball and its been intercepted and we concede - thats unforgivable - none of us played PL football, but anyone who ever played will have been coached to know you dont hit a square ball in your own half coming out in certain positions.

I also dont think his touch is great, he is an alright dribbler and will take a player on - but that also prone to a break down and a counter to. He is boom and bust and honestly his biggest problem is there is not control to his game at all, he just get it goes a million miles an hour and does stuff that comes into his head - sometimes good, sometimes awful - boom and bust. What he brings defo isn't worth the contract hes looking for.

We also seriously need to look at his contract or move him on, hee coming into his the last year next year, so he defo is a priority to make a decision on - i cant see anyone coming in for him in the PL - he has a move to Turkey written all over him.
