2022/23 Alex Iwobi

Said it last season, he’s a coward. The amount of challenges he pulls out of is laughable.
The thing you’ll hear everyone say as well is play him centrally, do that and you may as well sacrifice a midfielder altogether because of the lack of defending he’ll do to help.

Iwobi is the prime example of a player showing stats lie. He’s runs a lot, covers the most ground probably, has “key passes”, etc. but anyone with any sort of brain for football can tell you he’s rubbish by watching him.

He sulks when he’s put out wide but he’s no where near good enough to be in the middle, I don’t care what stats someone throws at it. His actual only hope as a top level player longer term would be to grow backbone and try to transition into a deep lying energetic 6 or 8 but he loses the ball too often, for every flash pass he pulls off or nice through ball there’s literally 9 more than go straight to the opposition or out of play.

He has no brain, if he wants to be in the team short term his only asset will literally be repeatedly running at the full back and trying to cross it in, he has no other use and even then Gray is miles better at that he’s just too selfish to pass it to anyone.

That’s numbers refuted then. Time for everyone who has spent time on it to pack it in. It’s been solved.

You just don't deserve the Nigerian Messi.

I said at the end of the season they are all for sale and if someone offers decent money for Iwobi we would be mental to turn it down. He's in his final 12 months and whilst he's been better, its a very low bar.
My concern is we can't keep selling players and not brining anyone in.

Thought he was decent in the run in, worked hard on the wing and doubled up with his full back defensively well. The output might well be improved on by a new signing, but I hope he stays.

Can't play ventrally though, that much is really obvious.

It'd be a massive mistake letting him go.
Massively underrated by our fans for sure...he is not DeBruyne, but has been a key player for us in the last 2 years. I wouldn't sell either unless there is no chance he is signing a new deal. Only then, it makes financial sense to sell him now rather than lose him on a free next summer.

Wouldn't let him go unless they were offering 20 + mil. He's a better player than the one we (over)paid 35 mil for. He's currently the only real progressive passer and decent ball carrier we have in the team and since the start of last year has been one of the hardest workers.

That said, last year of his contract, last chance to get a fee. Wouldn't be livid if it happened.
