….don’t be ridiculous, there’s a small category of players looking to run down their contracts and move on a Bosman. It’s usually those within 18 months of their current deal finishing. We see it with Mbappe but I doubt we’re in the market for him.

Weird how the Thelwell ‘luvvies’ are always looking to excuse his gross negligence.
Even more ridiculous I think I am a Thelwell "luvvie", he's doing a bang average job. There's plenty of players doing the same thing around the world as Iwobi might be. There might even be some strikers. I don't blame them for not wanting to come here, the abuse DCL took from the stands yesterday would justify them not being interested going forward too.

Is he? We have somehow got worse since he was appointed.

I think stuff like "coward" is a bit harsh personally.

Last season at Man. United he was carried off with what looked a serious injury. Wasn't anywhere near as bad as thought and he was out there the next week v Southampton and hardly missed a game in the run in.

Today he felt his hamstring go so you're not going to stay on and risk significant damage as you can't run off those types of tweaks.

With his style he gets on the ball enough, my issue is he simply dosen't create or score enough for all his touches in final third although I accept the options infront of him are a long way from elite generally.

Perhaps the club would rather he goes on a free, I dunno but just seems another drifting example where player will just let his contract run down and put out o.k performances.
Of course it’s harsh. It’s deeply unfair. But the problem is the likes of Iwobi has been so consistently poor during his time here that he has no credit in the bank with fans when the club is going through an historic low.

He has been part of the problem.

Blaming him now is deeply unfair, but he hasn’t mitigated his loss with five years of good value-for-money performances. What we’re seeing now is the inevitable unedifying breakdown of a doomed relationship.

Villa’s game plan was pretty obviously to not let him into the game. He’s up and down but at least that includes an up. Who else is creating anything in our side if he doesn’t? It’s an obvious tactic and it worked.
Yeah leaving him alone on the right, were garner(great passes btw) found him consistently and he did nothing with it, seemed to be the opposite.. Did you watch the game?
