Didn’t elaborate in my post but I meant generally £15m for him is poor value in today’s market.

He’s worth that much because he’s only got a year left on his deal, not because he’s worth that much generally.

On a longer contract I’d expect us to get minimum £10m more for him - my point was that our management of his contract has cost us a lot.

As you say though, if we sell him it’s profit on the books and we can hopefully reinvest elsewhere.

If we sold Iwobi and bought Gnonto, I’d be delighted. If we sold him and bought Cornet, I’d be gutted.

Agree about yes to Gnonto and no to Cornet

But Iwobi being worth £25mil? Whose paying that when theres only 1 team in for him at £10mil less?

I would happily spend all of the incoming fee on a left back btw.
Yes 100%, been saying for weeks that we should get a proper left back in and let Young fill in at RB (where he actually played most of his games last season) and winger during times like now when all of ours are hurt

@BNJ1878 you were right, there is a football club on planet earth willing to pay £15m for Alex Iwobi. Please accept my grovelling apology.
Come on now, no need for an apology.

There are times on this forum people deal in absolutes when they have absolutely no control over the situation.

You boldly claimed no football club would pay any actual money for Iwobi (they still might not!)

If he's sold for between 15-20m as I suggested over the summer, I merely ask you keep an open mind in future.

It takes a big man to admit he could have been wrong on a topic he's usually very knowledgeable about.

Well done!

I definitely did not think anyone would pay that much for him. I don’t recall ruling out someone throwing in a low ball bid of about £3m or something. But alas it appears right now that I got this one wrong.

Fulham *shakes fist angrily but also with love*

Mad how people get carried away

Peeps on Reddit saying Maupay should be given a run because he looked decent at Doncaster

Madness all over the gaff

Edit: they were American so that says a lot
He was the fall guy for everything for such a long time, now he can’t do any wrong.

Same boat as Digne for me, he’s not going to get better his value is decreasing l, just sell him.

No hatred from me, just a very average footballer and one of the main reasons we’re in this mess. Probably the last big money signing flop we bought, the chapter ends with him and eventually Keane leaving.

It's a very welcome cash windfall, hopefully we spend it wisely.

I'd rather a steady 7/10 player over Iwobi who could have performed so much better.

Tricky situation this one. We clearly need the money and better to cash in on him but he’ll be badly missed in the middle of the pitch. He’s not the best but at least he offers us pace in the middle that we badly lack. Even with him here we badly needed two central midfielders with pace, someone who can offer creativity in the middle and can get the ball moving. If we don’t get that, we’ll continue to leak goals and not create any.
