2020/21 Allan

Don’t understand why anyone would want to sell Allan. He’s easily our best midfielder and with a bit of quality around him would be even better. Only times he looked poor was when he had Gomes and Sigurdsson next to him. When he had a fully fit Doucoure with him he was class.

Think it's more that he's 31 in Jan, has had his share of injuries and generally doesn't look up to the pace of the game here - which isn't a surprise when you've played your entire career in Italy.

If we got offered what we paid for him, you'd take it and move on. However, I highly doubt Real Madrid want Allan.

I’d be disappointed if he went, I want to see him bossing it at Goodison with better players around him and a crowd appreciating his hard work and talent but I totally agree he’s never going to Real Madrid!

Just saw Zat post it in the transfers thread, seems a dodgy source talking it up at at loss to us financially

Hes 31 in Jan...plays the same position as Doucoure.

You’re obsessed with age! I want the best players at our club to continue playing at our club. He is our best midfielder imo so I don’t want us to sell him. Just because he’s 30.5 years old doesn’t mean he’s going to turn crap!
And no, I don’t care if he never gets sold for as much as we paid and we ‘lose money’ on him. I care about our league and cup performance. I’d happily go buy a 31 year old if he was the best player we could possibly buy in that position and would improve our team next season.
Far better than all the money wasted on a prime age Iwobi!

Sure. But it's not as simple as "getting a younger version of Allan" is it? If not, we wouldn't have bought Allan
i said similar attributes. also i think we can all agree that he wasn't a brands signing, im also not saying hes a bad player but hasn't exactly pulled up any trees and i cant really see his motivation to play for everton now. trust me he's one of the last players in the queue id want sell but if we can get back what we've paid we should snap anyone's hand off. 2 years left on contract now, 31 years old come jan.

Of course. But it's completely disheartening and an uphill struggle when we don't have a 25 man squad, we need to fill areas we're short, replace areas we're lacking...then now replacing players we don't really want to replace.

Season hasn't even started and it's looking horrible

completely agree with you and you make a good point but FFP and PL rules are against us in terms of recruitment. due to past poor transfers we dont have the luxury to have a big squad full of quality as it seems now its sell to buy, so if you can recoup on an aging player whos not really suited then its a no brainer. in an ideal world we would have allan, and the younger version if you will, coming in and out the team getting experience till the time comes to replace him. but i suppose that's the nature of the beast
