2021/22 Allan

Allan was on his way down, and in and out of a Napoli team that was struggling. He also struggled with injuries. He was by far the best under Sarri, and then as a box-to-box player who mainly protected Jorginho. The strategy of bringing in Allan and JR was madness, which only had a short-term perspective, which turned out to be very wrong. A club like Everton must bring in younger and hungry players who have not peaked, and who have the mental and physical profile to play in the world's most demanding league.

We've been obsessed with spending big sums and a lot of that is because our scouting is obsessed with the PL.

There's about 10 championship players we should have signed in the last 5 years. I dont know what the issue is. Do we think we are better than these players? Because we definitely aren't.

It's just poor all round. We've spent equally as bad on PL proven players as we have foreign. End of the day it's about the right player.

I don't buy this "buy cheap on the continent and build" because it's basically like spreading your bets and hope it comes in.

For me personally we need at least 1 solid player in key positions - mainly CB and Midfield - like a Jagielka or a Carsley who aren't going to be flashy or 1 in 10 players, they're just gonna be fit, solid, and give standard premier league performances.

The PL is full of them in certain teams but we as a fanbase will find a reason as to why they wouldn't work or not want.

Just sick of who we've signed since Moshiri has taken over to be fair. And there's not right or wrong way

I want us to always look to sign the best championship players

Champo is still £20mill+ for a talent now and not always a guarantee like all transfers. Mirtovic is set to hit 40 goals in it this season for example.

However, there are younger players that we could've easily swooped in for for smaller fees.

Olise was available for 8m. Cash was available for like 12 a couple if years back. Brereton is available on a free this season. There are always good players

Of course. Usually it's getting them at a right time too or you'll be paying over the odds. The RS more than likely getting Carvalho for nothing as he's out of contract. Would've easily been £20mill in a contract.

But Eze's, Maddison's, Bowen's etc are still big money transfers in contrast.

Ancelotti was very short termist in his thinking though. No wonder as he couldn't move on quick enough.

That's what Moyes is best at, finding players like Bowen or Soucek for cheap with a good age profile and the right mentality. He built a good team here with that method, for all his shortcomings.

Another who will have one decent game then fall away for the next few unfortunately, we have to be looking to improve this area(and many others!!)of the pitch.

Like Mina, he will have 1 year on his contract this summer.

If we were going to use a 3 in midfield and had no FFP issues id extend his deal. But, now at 31 and probably on circa £100k a week its best to move him on.

My guess is Lazio for £10mil to play under Sarri again.

Was massive in the first half and like many others faded a bit in the second with tired legs.

Need more of that though against the smaller clubs, feel like Allan gets himself up for the big games but goes a bit quiet in the winnable games.
