3 match ban for a tap tackle... has to be the biggest joke decision of the season?

Oh wait - forgot the no handball call vs City for a second there

Quality officiating as always from our most competent English referee force

By default VAR has put players at risk, if a player is going to get a red card for this type of foul then he might as well get his money's worth and ensure the player being tackled is also off the field. I could understand it if Allan had been last man but it seems VAR as now introduced a new red card offence, not the last man.

Who is on this independent panel. Can we have some transparency?

That is the real issue. The refs dont have a meeting and decide to saw off Everton, or make sure RS win or anything else. They are a paranoid cabal of defensive people, ruled over by the utter tit, Mike Riley. They are literally frightened to death of being held accountable to anyone but their boss. Hence the decision today. VAR, and their interpretation of it (this week), must not be questioned.

They are weak, as a collective, and that is why we are where we are.

I honestly dont see why people are so sure its not a red and that other tackles are not carded like that.

Id say we all agree he is nowhere near the ball so its purely to stop the runner, no? Then on top of that he dives in with both feet off the ground, not like a slide tackle where you have some control of impact. I think its normally seen as more reckless and endangering an opponent when you leave the ground like that, which can be trouble even if you are close to getting the ball let alone if you are basically doing a takedown tackle to stop a break. He did leave the ground with both feet, no or have i seen that wrong?

Not on the wind up, just in all the comments i havent seen it clear why its such a controversial red. Are all the other tackles that dont get carded the same circumstances as above? Id be surprised tbh. I thought it was a red at first and when watching the replays

Pity because he was my MOTM regardless, he was all over the place and really setting the standard for effort
