Basically another little piece of the game died today. You won't see players making honest (if a bit meaty) challenges in the middle of the pitch to prevent an opponents counter attack as much anymore, at least from those of us who don't matter (aka anyone who isn't part of the "elite" clique) because every time it does happen players will be risking a straight red card. Kin' hell, I swear that the people who run this sport are determined to ruin it.......?

I honestly dont see why people are so sure its not a red and that other tackles are not carded like that.

Id say we all agree he is nowhere near the ball so its purely to stop the runner, no? Then on top of that he dives in with both feet off the ground, not like a slide tackle where you have some control of impact. I think its normally seen as more reckless and endangering an opponent when you leave the ground like that, which can be trouble even if you are close to getting the ball let alone if you are basically doing a takedown tackle to stop a break. He did leave the ground with both feet, no or have i seen that wrong?

Not on the wind up, just in all the comments i havent seen it clear why its such a controversial red. Are all the other tackles that dont get carded the same circumstances as above? Id be surprised tbh. I thought it was a red at first and when watching the replays

Pity because he was my MOTM regardless, he was all over the place and really setting the standard for effort
Why? Because you watch Shelvey go through the back of Gordon in the reverse fixture and not get a card. You see these tackles every week, tactical fouls, why aren’t they sent off?

So send Allan off…fine but send everyone else off for the same offence. That’s is the problem. Inconsistencies, of which, we bare the brunt of it. Niasse a six game for diving…. Mo Salah….. well air touched him so he is right to go down!

Handball? Inconclusive.

Pal we get treated with more contempt than Millwall do. The top brass of the league and most of the media hate us. Need to back the lads as the refs won't give us anything.

But that doesnt really say its not a red card? Shelvey one was definitely a red for me too. I really dont understand how that was reviewed by VAR and not considered dangerous play. But it doesnt change the Allan one.

I get the reaction at inconsistencies in refeering, i was more wondering specifically why people seemed convinced that individual tackle wasnt a red

Well I guess it doesn’t really matter anymore, but when you say inconsistencies are they really that? I mean we have VAR now and isn’t that supposed to have stopped that? What it seems like is a bunch of guys who either don’t have a clue, interpret the rules differently, or have it in for us. The sooner we move to A.I the better, although then we’d have the bloody Chinese & Russians hacking our Refs, and they probably hate us even more knowing our luck.
