2022/23 Amadou Onana

Had about the same number of really really good games as I have nipples. Physical specimen, seems intelligent, likes a tackle. But horrifically ineffective (that is not a comment on talent/quality) footballer both attacking and defending. And can’t use the inexperienced tag. The things he doesn’t do are nothing to do with experience. He’s played footy under elite coaches every day probably since he was 6, and still has no idea what’s behind him, ever. The number of goals this season where the scorer or assister ran behind Onana within 5 seconds of the ball going in the net is a joke. He doesn’t get too much blame because he ends up 10 yards from the scorer or assister so looks like he wasn’t involved.

There are so so many scutty, ugly, uncool midfielders without his size, potential, and attitude that just flat out affect games. That’s all that matters, affecting games. He just gets booked a lot. Getting to dislike him more than Doucoure just because Doucoure is crap, lazy and stupid. He can’t help it. Onana should be utterly dominant in our team and our best player every week, and just isn’t.
The lad could be more effective in games and should dominate more than he should thing is he probably finds it difficult to dominate anything due to being constantly fouled when he has the ball at his feet and the ref doesn't give the free kick and doesn't book the opposition,he gets no protection from refs, yet when it's him that makes the foul the inevitable yellow gets shown and the rest of his game is badly effected as another late 1 will see him shown red, that said I've seen him more than once on a booking and he has made tackles that had to be judged perfect and we're.he isn't our best player but hes still only 21 younger than gordon, cost us less than the geordies 0aid us for gordon I know who I'd rather have out the 2,

I think he is prone to being too casual in possession so consequently there's a lot of times where opposition players steal the ball and it's close to being a foul. Rather than hoping to get a free kick he just needs to sharpen up.

Today is the type of game we need him to get a hold of. I see he wants to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, which is brilliant, but it won't happen until he finds a lot more consistency. He's young and has potential, but it counts for nothing.

Someone will pay way over £50m when he goes imo.
He’s 21, can hold his own in the prem, scores and assists (room for improvement), can defend, all in a side that are an absolute pile of excrement.
Would look a different class in a team that had more about them than we do.

I don't understand the assumption that there would be a queue of top European clubs lining up for this lad.

He's a mad Fellaini-type utility player that only fits in with a certain style. Where would somebody like Arsenal find room for a player who is generally quite dreadful in a technical sense? Their centre-mids get 100+ touch a game. You can't carry a fella like this with style of play.

The amount of hero worship for a lad who's had half a dozen decent games is a bit mad

"Hero worship" ?

Did you think he looked out of place in the Belgium side?

I think you really need to question yourself if you consider him to be a "utility player".

Did you watch Vieira in his first season with Arsenal?

He does that wear his heart on his sleeve thing, a cheer leader, fans buy into it, see Richarlison

If you mean opposition fans who want him to sign for their club then thats interesting.

I wonder why Arsenal, Chelsea and other teams fans want him to join their team...could it be because theyve seen world class players develop and see something in him I wonder?

Honestly, yes. And if you're comparing this lad with Vieira I don't really know what to say to be honest.

He's a good runner with the ball and can put in tackles but he can't do the basics of the game like playing simple passes even half well.

Tell me how Vieira looked in his first season at Arsenal then...
