I see he's become one of those players where people take exception to them being 'overrated' and so weirdly claim that they were rubbish in every single game. Whatever floats your boat I suppose.
Even in his bad games he is well above much that we have, not very interesting for your average watcher but his off the ball positioning in defending areas is exceptional, he is the definition of Dycheball.

Has all the attributes and a high ceiling to get better. Still new to the league but happy we have him for now.

Needs to grab the game as Garner did soon as he came on last night

He's like that player you play with who is comfortably best on the park week in week out but doesn't ever get MOM because you can't give it to him every week.

Comfortably our best player, clearly a level above the rest of the squad.

Was excellent yesterday again

I actually like him as a player, but there are so many occasions where you don't remember he's on the pitch until he starts riling the fans up.

I'd love to see him getting more involved as he's got a bit about him.

Thought Garner was eye catching in his cameo and the free kick was good as well.

Have to say, first half though (and I doubt anyone will want to watch it again) my eyes were being drawn to Onana's movement.

He was continuously moving into space when we had the ball and supporting when we didnt.

Nothing that caught the eye...nothing 'exotic' he tried really came off but that was more on Gray/Iwobi really.

Pretty much this and Ive been saying that we will see him at his best when:

1: He has a partner in midfield. Neither Gana nor Doucoure have the ability on the ball to really sync with him. Found so much space all game but they just arent on the same wavelength or good on the ball.

2: The forward line improves. You see him looking up and playing balls over the top which, by the time our players have realised what hes tried...its over their heads.

3: He has a full preseason. I think the last 3 summers he's gone from 2020 Hoffenheim to Hamburg -- 2021 Hamburg to Lille -- 2022 Lille to Everton.

When he first arrived I hit him on one of these stupid social media platforms and preached "pass and move" to him...it's been sorely needed in our sides for a long time...we're atrocious with it. You can play any style you want but, for Christ's sake, move after you pass and don't be a statue.

Media throwing around a £62mil figure now.

After paying Lille's clause that would become £56mil which would be extremely poor business.

Should build aroumd him, but if he has to he sold then its got to be over £70mil.

This is Onana full stop he hardly ever goes all out, he ambles about doing nothing for large parts of the game, he does plenty of passing mostly sideways and backwards and I hope I’m wrong but he will become more noticeable in the absence of Doucoure who along with Gueye provides most of the energy from central midfield,Onana hasn’t shown the energy to match them, let’s see him play for ninety bleedin’ minutes instead of the thirty ho usually offers.
