Well your argument is you wanted an instant hit the ground running success. Im not going to argue with that. The counter argument is we have bought a player who looks to have potential. As opposed to buying players in the past like allan who were past their best. Or doucoure who cant even do the basics.
Can't disagree with what you've said mate and I could understand the approach if it was say City or United who have plenty of cash and are happy to wait to develop talent but in our financial position we need to expect instant results and a ready made player for that sort of outlay.

Its one of them though isnt it. We went for instant signings like allan. That flunked. If there is an in their prime midfielder who is guarenteed to be great then its unlikely Everton will be getting them.

Garner has played nearly 100 games in England.
Onana started 11 games in france. Thats his career basically. Apart from the german 2nd division.
GIve him time.
Gilbert the most important time is NOW, he’s not doing it now, no good next season if we are relegated or he is with another club. Garner cost about a third of the price Onana cost and he is doing it now when it counts.

You'd rather Everton sign gash players instead of young players to develop and build something?

Allan, Schneiderlin, Doucoure, Gana and the likes are what you get for lower fees. Everton dont seem to be able to pay for or attract the top tier players.. so have to go for youth

We could have sold Onana in Jan for a fortune.

Brighton dont just sign players and play them day 1 you know?

I guess what I mean't is that signing a young lad with potential is fine but spending £35 million on one isn't

His stats compare favourably with the best in the league.

I posted them a page or two ago.

Who could we have sold Onana to for a FORTUNE in January?
Notice I am replying to you with words not a simple sarcastic smile, be a man and reply like one.

Where have I suggested that I'd rather we sign gash players. Grow up Zat.

I have clearly stated that in our position we need ready made players for an outlay of £35 million. It means a decent player who can make a meaningful contribution straight away to the team. The fact that previous DoF's have squamdered similar amounts previously bears no relationship to my staement.

Players like Trossard , Mitoma , Bowen , Gyckores , and I'm sure that there are many others outside the English pyramid fall into that category.

BTW I am in favour of bringinging in young players to develop but when our financial position is so bad and the team so weak we can't afford the money and time to have Kean and Onana as our highest transfer fees

Something weird about this player, i just dont see him as the right fit for a club in our half of the table, but i do think if you put him in a top side he could play the right game. Good scouts will see this, i think even though he hasnt been great I think we might be able to make a profit from him.

But like i said we've bought for the now and it hasnt paid off many times. Someone mentioned fellaini earlier. I recall his first season and i can still remember writing on bluekipper after about a dozen games if we kept the receipt. He was awful.
Im still hopeful with him as you can see he has something.

You have to cash in on Onana in the summer regardless of what division we're in, in my opinion. He's a "project" player we don't have time for and whatever output he's capable of seems fairly easy to replace.
