2023/24 Amadou Onana

I like the lad a lot, seems like he's got his head screwed on the right way. Plays almost every game for us and he's still very young so is visibly developing. Much better than warming a bench somewhere fancier.

I often wonder how many potentially very good players have harmed their careers by going to a monied mega-squad club and completely stunted their development. Looking at you, Chelsea!

What I like is that I think we all know he will move at some point but he seems of the mindset that he will only do it when he feels he is ready.

While it seems to be the subject here can vouch for him being a good kid, met Onana twice, both times he was an absolutely lovely fella, introduced himself with a handshake, had a small chat about Everton. First time was just after the derby last season when Van Dijk should have got a red for a horror tackle on him , shared some of my thoughts on that tackle with him which brought a few laughs!

Really polite which isn't always the case with some others
