Don’t we all have the penalty we’d take in our heads?

I know I do. I’d kind of go vaguely to the keeper’s left, about head height, but not too far over or too high in case I miss.

It’d likely be a bad penalty.

But that’s the one I’d take, because I feel most confident lashing it in that general area.

It’s insane to me to think a professional player would put less thought into it than me, and just see what happens as they trot towards the ball.

Agree with most of your post but i'd go with 4 year old bellend wearing his new kit trying to emulate Messi.
 
The lad turned 22 this past August. Young men with confidence in themselves will make poor decisions.

The look on his face after the penalty was saved tells me all I need to know. He will learn and will be better from it.

He is exceptionally talented and more importantly a hardworking midfielder that knows potential and talent is only 15% of what it takes to get to the top.

I got all the time in the world to wait on that kind of young footballer to develop. Nothing but support from me. Do better next time lad.

I’m well aware not spat my dummy out I’m also aware how poor our squad is, does that mean we can’t look for a good cup run or attempt to win one? As I said we’re crap but does that mean we resign to just playing to remain in the league? He more than screwed it up in fact if he actually attempted to miss there would of been more chance of scoring than that pathetic attempt and I don’t particularly like him anyway even less now after that.
 

Awful lot of nonsense in here. It's a perfectly valid way to take a penalty. Small bit of a delay and try to let the keeper commit. He made an absolute awful mess of it, but that can happen

The projection to claim he was arrogant or wanted to make it all about himself is the usual childish football supporter nonsense for me

The fact we are regularly utterly crap and don't ever look like winning a trophy is not on him
