Americans have NEVER got cricket, it is far too deep for them. It's a thinking mans game, stick some violence in it and they would be all over it.

Its far more complex than cricket, not so much to understand but to play and coach because it’s so tactical relative to most sports.

I don’t even care that much for the sport either although pretty much anything is better than cricket, a sport where we had to enslave half then world just to get someone else to play it with us,

Its far more complex than cricket, there are literally hundreds of plays which players need to learn and memoriese all requiring different movement etc from the various players.

I don’t even care that much for the sport but it’s objectively a more complex sport than cricket.

Tbf this is one of the greatest moments in recent US history and that's coming from someone who is really really tired of how many patriotic displays we feel the need to put on. But in 2001 this was awesome.

I'm not going to pretend to watch cricket a ton but I get the appeal. It's just weird to me that they take this stance of being a gentleman's game or whatever with that history.

you said it’s too deep for americans, but there national sport is deeper than any of our sports.

id say it just goes on for too long for americans, no one can be arsed to watch five days of a match and then have it end in a draw as so often happens in test cricket.

Basketball? Europe gets 12. Americas get 7. Africa gets 5. Asia/Oceania gets 7. Host gets in automatically.

Baseball? 16 teams from 5 continents in the most recent one. But I mean the entire western hemisphere plays the game as well as parts of Asia/Oceania, and a bit in Europe.

The difference is you can be comparatively slow and weak and play football if you have off the charts skill. Look at Andrea Pirlo or Riquelme. Rugby and NFL you can maybe play 9 or 10 and QB. Every other position is going to have skilled players who are also freak athletes. You can't have just the skill and play professionally in those positions.

Most pro footballers are probably freak athletes compared to us normal peons too.

There are loads of examples of NFL players in skill positions not being the absolute best athletes and loads of examples of great athletes being pretty average. Again same as football. Its all comparative.

Horse Racing combined with road rash style antics where the jockeys are allowed to push each other off the horse or whip each other (no horses can be touched, that would be wrong). Golf with random land mines scattered around and quicksand bunkers, Formula 1 races taking place in a castle with lava jumps and massive brick things with angry faces trying to squash the drivers...
