I believe the opposite. He was sold a lie by the board and promised loads of money backing him. He saw the truth for himself in January when we failed to capitalise on our good position and signed Josh King on a free transfer. The players were beginning to down tools and were a far cry from the model professionals he has spent his career working with.

He left because he could see what was about to come. I don’t blame him one bit.
I agree with this. I think the way things have played out since indicate he wasn't going to put up with the board's management and with his career he didn't need to. Madrid offer him the job and he could well end up with the double. I hope he gets it. He's a decent man, and by all accounts liked living in Crosby and mixing with the locals. And he stood by his own principals and left

How he got this gang of jokers to 8th is quite astonishing. Even more so when you think if they actually tried towards the latter part of the season they could have got top four.
As soon as they got comfortable with him they couldn’t be bothered and reverted to type.

I think people are underestimating how impactful Digne and a limited James were. Basically all of the creativity and forward passing went with them. That's why Iwobi of all people has been so helpful the last few weeks with getting us into dangerous areas more often.

We were consistently top 4 for the first half of the season as well, keep that in mind.

Same players for the most part.

End of the day team could have been Uber professional and full of promise… but if Madrid knock the door you are leaving
