On the one hand I think we have dodged a bullet with trying to sign him, on the other what the actual F*** are the club doing to get beaten by Forest with his signing when he seemed to be the only player in the world galaxy we wanted to get ?

Evening all,

Forest fan in peace here. I'll come onto why I've posted on this particular thread at the end.

I've been following the issues at Everton from afar and subsequently your forum for a couple of months now as I've always seen some similarities in our clubs 25 years ago in stature and size (you'll have to be around 40 and over to remember). Obviously ours diminished after getting relegated and that's what brings me here....bad ownership. Our plight and struggles came from exactly that, it just shows your only ever one bad owner away from potential disaster. Personally I hope you survive, as I said I've always seen a Everton as a club with so many similarities and values similar to Forest. You're one of the clubs we were desperate to see us playing against regularly again in the top flight.

Dyche is hopefully the right fit for the position you find yourselves in. FWIW Dyche lives in West Bridgford (where the City Ground is located) and regularly attended social drinks with Steve Cooper and some of legends from the 70s & 80s and he's highly thought of as a genuine and honest guy who was constantly garnering knowledge and swapping ideas with them all and Copper.

To come back to why I posted on this this thread, I noticed a lot of misconceptions about our squad size and amount of signings, mainly due to it not being reported in the media as it doesn't make the same glamour headlines as "big spending Forest" or "Forest smash player transfers record". There are reasons.

In the summer we lost the bulk of our squad as the majority were either on loan, at the end of their contract or sold. We had to bring in the amount we did to even get a team on the pitch. With regards to the reasons for our January activity, we have the following injuries:

1.Omar Richards (potentially out for season)

2.Biancone (out for season)

3.Dean Henderson (unknown could be months)

4. Koutate (could be season)

5.Awoniyi (rumoured several months)

6.Ryan Yates unknown medical condition, rumours it could be a heart problem

7.Toffollo &
8. Lewis O'Brien were supposed to go on loan to Blackburn and Anderlecht respectively but fell through late on

9.Cafu &
10.Lyle Taylor not registered in Sept

That's a sizable chunk of our squad so we needed to bring bodies in. We've got a great spirit in the camp and there's no discord as the majority that are left out are because of injury. It's the harmony in the club that's one managed to pull us out from bottom of the table and upwards.

As for Ayew, God knows how that will turn out but it's low risk with no fee for 6 months.

Anyway, apologies for the long winded post, and good luck for the remainder of the season. Genuinely hope you survive if it's not at our expense ✌?

…Ayew doesn’t sound great but we trust Cooper, who’s managed him before. I imagine he’ll be 7th choice forward after Johnson, Gibbs-White, Dennis, Awoniyi (injured), Wood and Surridge

Would love to be a fly on the wall at training there. I’m actually starting to think their owner might not understand the rules.
Yeah, how do you even manage a squad like that, have effective training, give players the individual attention to improve their games? Is Cooper even asking for more and more players or are they being imposed on him? Still, if they stay up I guess it's job done.

Has played for their manager before, kinda goes a long way for some players.

Informative post fella. You'll probably get [Poor language removed] from some of the punters on here, but always nice to get a view from another side.

Welcome mate.

I make it 29 signings pre Ayew. It seems nuts to me, even with the injuries, but your manager seems to be holding it together.

7th choice forward….Jesus Christ. Our 7th choice forward plays for the under 7’s.
Yeah it’s a really weird one I must admit.

I suppose after a quarter of a century out of the Prem they just want to cover all the bases as going straight back down would be a disaster. I’m not expecting much from him but it’s low risk.

Like the other Forest fan above mentions, we have terrible injury problems with 11 out injured.

On another note, no way you’re going down with Dyche.

We could have any manager in here right now mate and I don’t think it’d help.

We don’t have any goals in the team.

If Calvert lewin doesn’t stay fit our ‘attacking options’ are:

. Neal maupay
. Elliot simms (unproven in Prem and imo not at the level)
. Demarai gray
. Alex Iwobi (who has really converted into a midfielder)
. Dwight McNeill (who can barely be considered an attacker)

Any knocks/suspensions etc to the above and we literally have nobody else to replace them. Our bench will be full of centre backs.

Don’t think other teams supporters really understand how bad of a situation the club are in.

OK, but according to transfermarkt that's you up to 38 senior players. Even if a few aren't really PL standard that's not really needing bodies. You list 6 injuries and the other 4 are just players you don't really want- it doesn't mean they stop existing. To compensate for the 6 injuries you've now signed 7 players in January, which in the process has meant that more players have to be de-registered.

Look, there's no rules against it, it's a bit harsh on the guys who will be twiddling their thumbs but they still get paid I guess. You must surely be able to see why everyone else in football is raising an eyebrow though, it's unusual to have such a big squad of senior players AND then to go out and snap up a new one every time someone gets injured. But if you stay up it's worked I guess and as we will testify better too many than too few!
