OK, but according to transfermarkt that's you up to 38 senior players. Even if a few aren't really PL standard that's not really needing bodies. You list 6 injuries and the other 4 are just players you don't really want- it doesn't mean they stop existing. To compensate for the 6 injuries you've now signed 7 players in January, which in the process has meant that more players have to be de-registered.

Look, there's no rules against it, it's a bit harsh on the guys who will be twiddling their thumbs but they still get paid I guess. You must surely be able to see why everyone else in football is raising an eyebrow though, it's unusual to have such a big squad of senior players AND then to go out and snap up a new one every time someone gets injured. But if you stay up it's worked I guess and as we will testify better too many than too few!

Yes I understand the raised eyebrows and that's down to the media only reporting on the big ticket item and not all of the facts as to how we required it.

Your phrase better to have too many than not enough whilst being simplistic isn't far off the mark. Having been out of the PL for 25 years we as a club knew the game had evolved and improved in quality immeasurably but everyone within Forest including Cooper has zero experience of what that actually looked like on the ground floor and Cooper by his own admission says that he's having to learn it and it's demands rapidly every day.

Part of that learning has been simply finding out that a number of players just having been good enough for this level. Some have surprised us but unfortunately we've had to recognise we need better quality and more experience. Cooper is a superb coach and in his own word's "I'm paranoid about making sure I don't let anybody down".

It might seem like a scattergun approach or like there's no method from the outside but you'll find very few Forest supporters that would have any dissent to what's been done. As with all clubs the supporters of them can see far more clearly what's happening than the outside world watching. Every player or position that we made this window are what the supporters called for because we could see the gaps and issues in the squad.

What has surprised us is how quickly Cooper has managed to pull it all together and gel so quickly. We all thought we might have to go down and come up again. However the owner and Cooper are hugely ambitious and their aims aren't just to survive but to go beyond. The signings of Felipe, Navas and Danilo this window are testament and backing of that.

Definitely dodged another bullet with Ayew.
Probably put off by his brother just because we wanted to tear him limb from limb for that tackle v Palace.
