..I don’t think it’s entirely injury related where Barcelona is concerned. He seems to have had a big falling out and is very unpopular with the fans following a big money move. I think there was accusations (allegedly from Messi?) that he was passing on information about Barca to his mate, Christiano Ronaldo. All very unpleasant.

From what I can find this is his first injury that has caused him to miss more than 5 games and he's only been injured for more than one game two other times in the last 4 seasons. That doesn't seem too bad to me. Not exactly the most durable but once he gets fit I think he will be good to go for awhile.

I think Brands asked about a loan for Gomes earlier in the summer and it was rejected. As the close of the window approached and as the Minna deal was being negotiated then Brands asked again or Barca suggested they were now open to the idea of a loan.
Hopefully, he will be ready shortly after the international break.
