If he'd been fully fit and firing on all cylinders,we wouldn't have got him.He's a gamble,but if he can recapture his Valencia form,one well worth the risk.

But footballers are professionals... they're never affected by what fans say. Anyway... if they're going to be affected by criticism they shouldn't have been a professional footballer.... or any other job that might involve someone being criticised at some stage (you know... all jobs).

Fans pay money for tickets and as a result feel they can treat anyone paid by the business they support like crap as it's technically "their money". You know - the same as how some people treat hospitality staff like crap... "I'm paying for a room in this hotel, this hotel pays you, therefore I can say whatever I want to you and you just have to take it". In fact it's more exaggerated than this as the 'wait staff' in this case are all millionaires and all us customers start to think that we're arbiters of whether or not they deserve to have their career and wealth at all.

The whole thing is very frustrating and illustrates one of the biggest problems in the world right now - people's inability to have empathy for anyone that isn't in an almost identical situation than themselves. It's what leads to so much adversarialism.

Fair play to Andre Gomes that he had the courage to talk about this so candidly - unfortunately I don't think the majority of football fans give a crap. All you need to do is look at how Barca fans treated him AFTER he did this interview - they didn't improve. I doubt Everton fans would in the same scenario.

Can’t remember where I read it, but it was saying the Fulham game at the end of the month is their targets. Then they have to get up to match speed, etc. All a bit pointless when by then we will probably be miles behind the top 4 places. Should be signing players that are ready to hit the ground running.
