He had a dreadful time at Barcelona so much so that he struggled sleeping and couldn't even walk down the street without being abused by idiots. Roll on a year or so and he is now fully fit and settled and playing great football for a good club in the premiership which has ambitions of winning things and he is loved by all of the players and supporters. His decision will be a no brainer. Try and push Barca for a move to stay at Everton permanently.
Pabbers mate, Mikel in that three-year spell was incredible. He turned up in the CL game for us, v Villarreal. Scored the FK and provided (what should have been) the assist for Dunc.
City was a big game from 08 onwards. And he always did them when he came back from injury as well. Never missed pen for us did he? Never shirked responsibility.
I've been hugely impressed by Gomes. He's a class above our other midfielders in possession and now he's getting fitter he just looks like a Rolls Royce of a player. He's exceptional.
As I've said, I just don't think the comparisons are really suitable just yet because they're playing different roles as well.

Could be wrong, but I don't think he was getting abuse out and about. Haven't seen that said anywhere. It also wasn't abuse in the stadium, it was more moans and groans when he was brought on and even a bit of laughter. He was shocking bad and the fans couldn't understand why he continued to get minutes and starts.
He has really surprised me so far, as he took no time to get back to some form and confidence. I'd be very surprised if he uses us a springboard to sign for another club in the summer. Been a joy to watch and I'm delighted for him as it's hard to watch a player absolutely shot for confidence like that. Said it before in here, he would get knocked off the ball like Osman at Barça but now he battles hard and more often than not comes out with the ball.

There is big talk this morning of Barcelona signing Adrien Rabiot form PSG. It puts Gomes further down the pecking order and could open up a move for us. Getting Gomes on a permanent is a must.

Its just that gomez is more all-rounded and can defend better.
Arteta was a good player in an average to decentish side.
If Gomez left us in Jan....he wont have been as good for us due to less games ONLY, but he is a better player.
You talk like MIkel was world class, and he was never the best on in the prem.
