If he doesn't play before Christmas, this means we are doomed, he was our only chance to organise the midfield, if we stuck with Gana-Morgan, we won't finish higher than 7th for sure. Maybe not even that. I wish they chose somone already healthy/fit to put him in the midfield to play the '8' from the start. Now we are losing loads of points, mostly because of our miserable midfield.
I'm going to put my neck on the block here and say we are going to finish some way lower than 7th.

The way I see it ,last seasons top 6 will be this seasons top 6
Huddersfield,Cardiff ,Fulham,Newcastle.Brighton ,Palace ,Southampton and Burnley will be scrapping for survival and fighting relegation (I reckon Cardiff,Huddersfield and one other to go)
That leaves Us, Watford ,Wolves,Leciester,Bournemouth and West Ham finishing7-12 place
I reckon we are in the 7-9 place spot come the end of the season and I would be happy with that if we look like we are playing attractive football and have a plan

It`s gonna be almost impossible to predict were will finish imo, as we`re a work in progress, with a lot still to do.

There`s still areas of the team that are massively deficient ( midfield / attack ).

Until he`s got his full first eleven on the pitch, mid table beckons.

Get them all on the pitch for a prolonged injury free run, who knows ?

Has any indication been given when this lad will be available?

Nope. He started light training on the 23rd August, then had a setback on the 29th August and Everton said it would keep him out for 3 weeks.

So if he's on schedule I'd expect him to be back in full training with the lads next week and possibly all being well he could be available for the league Cup match early October

Not sounding good then...

The really competitive positions are 1-6.
A good run of four or five results could easily move a team up to seventh or eight which looks respectable but in reality is miles off the serious places at the top.

I don't think seventh is beyond us if the new signings prove to be as good as we hope.
We already have seen that Richarlison and Digne offer great promise , Zouma has been quietly effective and I would guess that we would have another point or two at least if Richalison had not been sent off. The cameo from Bernard looked very exciting and now it appears that Minna is ready or nearly so.
They make up half a team and it will be a few weeks yet before they really show their worth and there is the hope that Gomes will be there also.

It could be after Christmas before we really see what this team could look like.

Well I guess it's a week further down the line that we would hope for but it's important to get him right. After Fulham I think there is an international break (or maybe the week later) so all being well by that point he would have had 3 full weeks training and maybe a behind closed doors game or 2
last sundays game should have been played behind closed doors

What a bunch to be scrapping with. If we don't pull away from that lot over the next couple of years then we truly have messed things up.

Three things are needed for us to compete with the top 6.

1. A quality defence
2. A quality midfield.
3. A quality striker

We have none atm.
