I think gomes was offered to us, he was meant to leave permanently but got injured in pre season. I highly doubt brands went after him knowing he would be injured for a large part of the season.
Brands has already openly said we enquired about a loan early in the summer and were told to do one, they only wanted a permanent transfer. So we moved on.

Near the end of the summer, when it seemed noone would pay what they wanted, we enquired again to which they agreed.

There's no conspiracy, no blackmail (you only get Mina if you take Gomes), nothing at all untoward.

Unfortunately, he got injured and he'll be back after Saturday.

Geeze, this place sometimes

Goodness he can't come back soon enough, he's one of the most talented players in our squad and we're crying out for someone like him in the middle. But I hope our fans don't get the wrong perception of him and have the wrong expectations, he's not someone who's gonna get on the ball and control the game like Modric or Busquets he's a Ramsey/Dembele type midfielder, big strong box to box runner and a hard worker.

Our fans need to give him confidence as well and time to bed into the team - giving players confidence isn't something we're particularly good at as fans unfortunately. He went through a tough time at Barça and needs a good environment where he can rediscover the amazing form which earned him his transfer to Barca. What he desperately needs is a decent song - not just "Andre Andre Andre", something proper.

Personally I think he'll be absolutely boss for us but I hope we do our bit as fans to make sure he feels welcome and his confidence comes back.

We will be booing him by half time of his first game if he has not scored a hat trick and will be christening Tom Davies as the new Pirlo because he is not in the team.

I feel as fans we are going to do our best to drive him out before he even kicks a ball for us

He seems to get niggles alot which can stack up - look at this season out for 7 weeks with nothing serious.

A hamstring injury is pretty bad, mate. He didn't tear it but by all accounts in pre-season they initially feared it could mean him missing 6 months (when at Barca).
