A similar tackle without the horrific injury, Red card it was appealed but it was not overturned. The panel deciding then to keep the red for a wreckless lunge in from behind, now there has been a horrible injury and the panel buckled and overturned it in my opinion because of the media.

I think this is all we need to see. No other argument needs to be made. Cheers for finding this!

Are we all seriously suggesting any trip is a Red? The game would end as a serious spectacle.

So let me get this right. A player has a coming together with another player but doesn't get anything for it from the officials and so in frustration he sprints as fast as he can to try and get revenge on said player, tries to foul another player en route and then when he reaches his target he flies in from behind with no intention of playing the ball which results in his target falling awkwardly, breaking his ankle in such a terrible way that it was too horrible to even show on the tv, players around him are in tears, the ref might need counselling and the player is rushed to hospital and will be unable to play again for about a year.

Seeing the extent of the injury, the player that instigated and caused the injury is issued a red card and so starts crying his eyes out so much so that people start actually looking at him as a victim. His club see an opportunity and so ask for the red card to be over turned and the FA after a short period of time say yes ok and overturn it.

Have i been beamed up to the Planet effing Uranus or what. I mean how much more corrupt, unfair and unprofessional can you actually get than this. No club in the premier league should stand for it.

It is definitely finished football. There is actually no point in participating in it. Would stand a better chance starting a league with the Mafia. Would probably be less corrupt.

Arsenal didn't appeal it the difference is Wenger's comments vs how Poch and Spurs have dealt with this.

Doesn't change the facts though...
1. He went after Gomes after the arm swing into his face.
2. Son made no attempt to play the ball and targeted the player.
3. It was from behind, which in itself is a red card offence

The game is played at a lot quicker pace, players are far more athletic.
We all know that if this had occurred against, let me say Mo Salah there is no way that the echo would have been able to contain their indignity, however I doubt the red card would have been rescinded.

If it was an Everton player I would hope the red would be overturned too (though that would require the club standing up for itself)

If it was an Everton player chances are the red would stand and the FA would extend the amount of games banned to send a message

Yes mate, it's a different game from what a lot of us watched growing up, they've tried to stop people getting their ankles snapped...The days of hardmen are over.
