Yeah rubbish, this. If you want a snapshot of what he produces, look at the Arsenal cameo.
Changed the game when he came on, was terrible against Chelsea, but you see that regularly when players come back from major injuries. Scratchy in their second or third games. Expect him to be back to his best next Sunday.

He's only held in such high regard because a) the rest of our midfield is one of the worst in the league and b) he's a handsome guy. He produces very little on the pitch.
He's not perfect, but on his good days he's very good; carries the ball well, sharp short-passing game and a willingness to put a foot in. Unfortunately, he doesn't have spectacular long-range shooting or passing to fall back on when he's otherwise not at it, like a Pogba or Gerrard, so he does stink the place out from time to time.

Agreed on the rest of them, though. A good day for Delph or Sigurdsson is managing to not getting sent off on purpose or flex at a teenage teammate.

Who is in our midifeld?

Andre Gomes has re-joined first-team training and Carlo Ancelotti is optimistic the Portuguese midfielder can feature in Everton’s meeting with Liverpool on Sunday.

Gomes started Everton’s two matches immediately before football was suspended in March after recovering from a serious ankle injury sustained earlier in the season.

He sat out an intra-squad game at Goodison Park on Saturday to nurse a minor knock but barring any setbacks is likely to be available for this week’s Merseyside derby.

Yerry Mina and Fabian Delph, meanwhile, are “close” to training returns.

Definitely rusty but we must remember, he has played three times since his serious injury in addition to the long break.

Saw some flashes yesterday of his passing range, strength and ability on the ball but this was not a game to showcase. Kept to his job of shielding the ball and moving it on when we had it, which was not for very long.

Thing is he's never been quick- you just didnt notice it last season as we had Gana buzzing around him.

so? If someone next to him is, he does not need to be.

Our slow midfield has been one of our main issues for a long time.

I think in a 3 man midfield we could afford to have him being slow providing we had 1-2 alongside him with pace- but I think in this 442 especially when we are attacking/on the front foot we'll need to sign 2x CM's to regulary start as I fear Gomes will be caught out too much when we are hit on the counter.
