Was he even that good before the injury, could be wrong (as usual) but can't recall him being anything great in his loan season here.

Yeah he was great. Really dynamic ball carrier from deep, hitting the feet of attacking players with great passes. Was never a defensive tour de force by any means but he wasn't the laughing stock he is now either.

He looked a player you could build a team around.

I think most were prepared to give him some time after it, but the problem is it's been quite a while now and he's objectively terrible on the pitch.

At some point you just have to wash your hands of the problem if you can. If we can get rid, we should get rid.
I think he will be kept if we get European football. His style might suit European football better and would add more options to the team. If not, I think he might move on. Shame really, he was genuinely very good when he initially arrived. Struggled since his injury and perhaps in Ancelotti's system.

Don;t think so.

He was on occasion. It wasn’t even close to being a regular thing though. He had 5/6 really good games in a row when he very first came and after that I don’t think he had any more than 5/6 more in the next 12 months. He had done absolute shockers too, villa away last season is quite honestly one of the worst individual performances I’ve ever seen from an Everton player, it was genuinely embarrassing. I’ve posted quotes before from the week immediately prior to his injury and they are absolutely no different to the comments you see now.

Who is this player you refer to? Can't possibly be the guy with 1 assist and 1 goal. Can't be the guy who put In such a bad performance against villa away (pre get out excuse, I mean injury) that you could smell the stench from L4. He pound for pound one of the worst midfielders in a long time.

Andre Gomes is finished at this level, you need pace and energy in the modern game just look at Leicester, simple question would he get in their team? NO
So why is he good enough for us, this has always been our problem we hold onto players for too long Gylfi Coleman Gomes to name a few

Gomes and Iwobi have to go this Summer.
They are both not fit for purpose and don't offer anything. Nothing at all. Zilch.

You could even argue that the likes of Delph, Siggy and Bernard have something to offer as squad players.

No you couldnt.
Twice the player of Iwobi or Bernard.
It's not rose tinted specs, those two have shown us this season just how utterly appalling they are.

In the defence of gomes.before James signed he was the only player who actually had a proper football brain, injury he had has told on him ,but when he signed for us he could see a pass no one in our squad could, also delf ffs give your head a shake

He worked well with Gueye and / or Schneiderlin in his first season.

Agree with others he wasn't pulling up trees before his leg / ankle break. He came back remarkably quickly from it. It may be a vain hope, but Aaron Ramsey took a long time to recover from a similar, arguably worse, injury. But he did. Maybe Gomes can up his game. Maybe not.

I'm not confident though.
