Wage savings count towards profit and loss as well. We could in theory make a small loss on his sale, but offset it with the wage reduction over a season, or both seasons when you consider he has 2 years remaining.

For a lot of our players, wage savings are as important, if not more important than fees. I'm guessing he could be on £5m a year - it's significant.

Our other option with Gomes is loan with obligation. We get a small loan fee this year and wage savings, then a fee next year when his value is lower on the books.

95% profit to wage turnover. Will be less now Icelandic Babysitter, Delph, Richy have gone. But Gomes and Mina jumping would help massively too
