Wage savings count towards profit and loss as well. We could in theory make a small loss on his sale, but offset it with the wage reduction over a season, or both seasons when you consider he has 2 years remaining.

For a lot of our players, wage savings are as important, if not more important than fees. I'm guessing he could be on £5m a year - it's significant.

Our other option with Gomes is loan with obligation. We get a small loan fee this year and wage savings, then a fee next year when his value is lower on the books.

The way P&S works I believe is different to FFP - which we don't actually need to even think about as only applies to teams in European competition.

The way I believe P&S works us whatever we are due to pay on Gomes is factored in no matter if he stays, goes on loan or is sold - so a set fixed amount which nothing changes.

But if he leaves then the full amount of the sale goes to P&S for this year or if losned any loan fee would also. A sale his full 120k pw 6.24m per year cones off the P&S or loaned whatever percentage we psy remains on the P&S for this year.

So the 8m figure is wrong, that's only for FPP - which is irrelevant'.

Anything we received is good for us in terms of P&S - even like 3-4m would go straight into the plus column on it.

He costs us £10.5 mill a year a mate, in wages and ammortisation he's our third highest player cost. If he went on a free even, we clear £21 million in the next two years. If we got a fee for him it would be a result, his book price is £9.4 mill.

There's more chance of Man City signing Gemma Collins than us finding someone to pay £1/5/10m for the world's most handsome footballing fraud.

(wonder if BK still has his poster on his bedroom wall)

God I hope the Sevilla links are accurate.

I'd happily take a £2m loan fee this season with an obligation to buy for £5.5m next summer.
I think he's out of contract next summer, isn't he?!...... if so, we're really only talking a few quid loan fee ahead of -yet another- free transfer, ala Walcott

Wow ,wages massive ffs. Always thought he would be a superstar when he come got a good football brain 2 stone over weight imo
Gary Neville rated him.

(can't quite remember if that was before or after the 8/9-0 mauling by Barca. before, you'd assume)
