I think his astmina is shot. Have a look at how he hardly responds after Gray lashes in the winner. other than to stand on the same spot raising his arms in the air. He was knackered just setting the pass up for Gray...no way did he have the energy to celebrate!

Just watched the replay to enjoy Grays golazo, I had forgotten how good Gomes was there. He shimmied through two defenders and without breaking stride side footed a little dribbler out ahead that Gray ran onto, perfectly in his stride.
Really really good. Results aside just fun to watch, aesthetically
easy to forget how good he was in 2018/19. the injury of course has hampered him. He's got a lot of ability and calmness on the ball, it's just the complete lack of pace and accerleration that hinders him

He looks good as a late sub, because everyone has slowed to his pace by then. He has ability, but he simply isn't quick enough for the EPL.

Don't disagree with any of that, but we've had a lot of false dawns with Gomes. He has ability, but he's slow and defensively laughable and capable of putting in absolutely shocking runs of form. I'd take him just being able to contribute from the bench in the way he did against Burnley and Arsenal.
He’s ok off the bench, awful as a starter.
