Him starting does not surprise me. Him putting in a poor performance after a great performance in the FA Cup does not surprise me. If anyone watch him over the years, whatever happened to him today is so predictable. But I thought VDB should've came on earlier as we were really dominating possession but without cutting edge after Gray out injured.
As for Gomes, I don't mind if he runs down the contract with us because he does more than some of the other expensive fringe players. To me, Iwobi, Tosun, Gbamin should be sold first before Gomes.

He gets frustrated mate, a player just has to knock it passed him and he knows he can't keep up so fouls,
it's so predictable and teams and players know what's coming and it just puts us under pressure.
I honestly wouldn't start a game with him in the Premier if Allan is on the same pitch both are to immobile for the modern game, but Allan can at least get a foot in, and looks decent when we have legs around him.

Really hope we give Frank time to sort this mess out. At least 60/70% of this squad shouldn’t get another manager sacked or play for the club under a new one. How disappointing it maybe to lose a Richarlison. If it means we can shift the wasters off for smaller fees. And the Richarlison money will help the rebuild, then so be it.

I think he needs to engineer a massive cull of the squad.
Get us down to 15 core players and bring in a handful of high potential driven positive signings.
The reality is that we have a good 14/15 players but the rest of them are so poor they drag the team down with shocking individual performances.
15 in a core with 4 incoming loans already takes us to 19 and we probably only need 23 for the squad.
Gomes was just so poor today. That performances isnt just bad for him...it means Allan has to do 2ce the work and of course it leads to mistakes from others as they need to come out of position to help him.
We saw with both Coleman and Gomes how others had to cover for them which destroys the balance.

Where are all his supporters today? Awful player. Shouldn’t be anywhere near the first XI.
If there's ANY intensity in a game/on him, ANY pressure on the ball, he crumbles.
Looks good in a good team when he's allowed the time on the ball to be an 'engine'.
That said, he played very well at Anfield one time so god knows - I just find him incredibly frustrating.

The definition of a good football player is how good and how fast one is to perceive (see), process (find choices), and to perform (technique). This depends on the ball, space, teammates and opponents. If you take away the sidelines and opponents, then you only have the ball and teammates.
Then all that remains is a mechanical action (perform), and then it is no longer football. So it's not really a mystery, Gomes is good at performing mechanical actions, certainly really good at isolation drills, but unfortunately it's not football.
