When does his contract run out? Would love him to regain some of that early promise he showed but seems very unlikely now. Not even sure he'd fit into Dyche's plans/style.

Think the Son incident absolutely shattered him sadly, he was a bit afraid of the tackle before that but now he's just gone.

Shame as his vision/passing is great, but mental barriers will obviously hinder that.

He's also very much not a Dyche type player so unless we go into mega injury crisis - he probably won't feature for us until his contract runs out.

Tbf he was slow and ineffective before the Son injury. I think we overrated him at first because a) He had prime Gana doing most of the midfield work and b) He replaced Tom Davies and was/is a huge upgrade on him.

He’s always been too ponderous and easy to run past in this league.

I think we are now at a level where he could play. Can’t see it doing any more harm than what has already been done. Might as well give him a go. What is the worst that could happen, we could lose, but we are really good at losing.
I remember the harm he did when he was getting regular games particularly the first half in the Crystal Palace game we won to stay up, he stunk the gaff out. He really hit the jackpot when he signed for us, a millionaire off the field a bleedin’ pauper on it.

He had some great games for us though. Liverpool away and Brighton at home stick out for me. Think he had a good against Utd too. He was frustrating because he clearly had 95% of what is need to be a top top midfielder but he just wasn't quick enough.

As @Kevsleftpeg above, plus something else to add was that he had/has an eye for a pass and tried it instantly, as ponderous as he was - even in his last appearance for us ages ago he had a beautiful half-volley pass as he spotted Richarlison's run, stuff like that is invaluable and something we don't have at all, bar possibly Garner in some time.

He didn't amount to much after but that was nice though, you gotta try those if you can hit them I guess lol

we are only a couple of injuries away from playing the kids in midfield this season. I dont see why Gomes couldnt make some cameo's off the bench when the game is already won. What we can't do is bring him on when we are getting beat. He is not an upgrade on anyone in the current 1st XI
