Oh he can pick a pass but he will be blowing for tugs after 5 minutes on the pitch.

Played in the u21 game on Monday and actually worked hard putting a good shift in for an hour.

Seen others be put in the u21s and not bother as it's beneath them, so it was good to see.

The polar opposite of Beto. Lots of technical ability but no physicality or desire.

It’s disheartening, how ineffective Gomes is in any defensive activity. He rarely wins loose balls, never overpowers an opponent or uses his body to shield the ball, can always be knocked away with a strong shoulder or hip. He lunges late for balls that cannot be won (because his opponent has already dribbled past him as if he were a lamppost) and gets whistled for fouls at a ridiculous rate.

I was going to say that he could be effective to spell Garner or Douc late if we needed an attacking mid, but in reflection our manager doesn’t sub.

….i only suggested Gomes was an option off the bench in an attacking position if we’re chasing a goal. I’ve seen him come on and look impact games doing that but he is a liability in areas of the pitch where the opposition run past him. I actually think he’s a better bench option than Davies was last season.

Another 60 minutes of football with the u21s and apparently was very good closing to full match fitness...with gana out because of the 5 yellows, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench for Burnley

What game was this? Last time he played for the u21s was last week before the Newcastle and Chelsea game. Hasn't had any minutes since or did the u21s play last night?

Actually think he could have a role to play if he gets fit enough for dycheball...
Can't be relied on in a two but with any combination of garner/gana/onana/doucs around him, they can do.the dirty work allowing him to pick the ball up and link play/supply the forwards.....

He's got the ability to make a difference, ideally in the games were we're expected to have possession against lower sides
