He reminded us what a proper footballer he is when he's on it that day. Happy for him and hopefully he can find a role in this side when called upon.

Proper footballer?

He hardly tore the French league a new hole did he?

He’s ok technically but physically he’s not anywhere near the required standard and his lack of pace is a massive problem

Gomes problem was always a game like Spurs (where he was top class) but then 3-4 poor games.

If he can perform like he did vs Spurs consistently I’d be offering him a 1 year extension.

Big if though. However under Dyche maybe he can though. Let see…
If Dyche can get better consistently from him, would Gomes take a substantial pay cut to stay with us for another year?

Because realistically, he’s not getting another big contract anywhere else.

Thing is as a free agent, £112k per week or £5.8m per year isn’t that bad in all honestly for a midfielder with his ability. As ever, it comes back to consistency, and if he can perform nearly as well as he did the other day more often than not and actually get in the team £5.8m would look like value given our current financial status. Of course the flip side is if he reverts to previous and disappears for months it’s £5.8m down the toilet.
Was pretty consistent in France and earned some good reviews. Seems to be a major confidence player and Dyche seem to be able to recognise what makes players tick so who knows.

He did do well at Lille. They just couldn't afford to sign him because he is on silly money here.

I always give any player a chance under a new manager but he will probably revert to his norm soon enough.

He's playing for his future though so who knows?

Paying inconsistent/injury prone players £100k a week on 2-3 year deals is what put us in the position we've been in.

Delph, Gylfi, Gbamin, Mina, James, Dele, all offered very little over years and took a while to get off the books. Most left on a free.

Doesn't matter about it calculating to a transfer fee. It's £100k a week, every week for 3 years to a wage budget.

Not physically strong enough??? VAR reckoned he tore that defenders bumcheeks off and wrapped them around his neck, before getting him in a half Nelson and killing him horribly in the lead up to DCL's goal lol

I can wait to see the comments after the match...not consistent, not physical enough, lack desire, overpaid, overrated blablabla...First start against the champions and best team right now in the world...so let's keep some perspective here.
