Transfer Rumour Andriy Yarmolenko

Playing devils advocate, and am not saying this is the aim... Would this potentially be a win for the board? Not having to spend the money and then saying it all came along too late in the day?

We have seen that game before - no matter how much i want Yarmolenko here because he would be a great signing, i havent been able to actually believe it because quite frankly, its very rare we buy without selling.

The board will want an out for not spending money, the window slamming shut will be their scapegoat.

The Yarmolenko deal has got everybody so hyped up the pressure is certainly on them to bring him in, if not someone big.

The club don't need to mention it themselves, that's the point. They release all bits of information to all different sources, the sources all come together and the story runs before the stories are then released that the deal fell through.

Its very simple PR techniques, same as there is buyers lined up or money promised to be spent round about season ticket renewal time, no matter how true it is.

That way the club cannot be held to a player they never mentioned but with the info leaking it seems like there is intention to the fans to spend money. Arteta prime example of that, he didnt hand a request in, that deal was a couple of weeks in the making.

We certainly have an interest in Yarmolenko , but again have no idea who the other targets are if that falls apart.
