Playing devils advocate, and am not saying this is the aim... Would this potentially be a win for the board? Not having to spend the money and then saying it all came along too late in the day?

We have seen that game before - no matter how much i want Yarmolenko here because he would be a great signing, i havent been able to actually believe it because quite frankly, its very rare we buy without selling.

The board will want an out for not spending money, the window slamming shut will be their scapegoat.

look we might sign some qulaity player, we may not. I just mean the fact that this fee was clearly a high investment for a player so the club kinda need to back that up and do it well now rather than panic buy
