Gordon instead of him second half increased our quality. Gordon offers more. Townsend scores a couple of worldies a year, but offers nowt else.

In fairness to the lad, you can't fault his effort and he actually did start well. We can now see why Palace weren't crying any tears when he left.

I also would like to have seen Dobbin at some time today, a tough strong lad up front.

The starting lineup was wrong and the substitution were used to correct the mistake. Dobbin would’ve play some role if big dunc didn’t starts with Gordon and Allan.

Townsend to his credit is a seasoned pro. However despite scoring worldies being a major bonus of having him I think ironically he suffers from trying to do much as an individual too often.

Possibly, but if he stays on the back posts he keeps it out regardless of pickfords touch

Thought he was a bit meh today but I can see why he started ahead of Kenny. He's very dependable and safe; doesn't really give the ball away and risk a quick counter down Kenny's side.

He shouldn't have moved off originally, but he's also got right behind it and then Pickford deflects it. Even if he didn't abandon the post early he'd still have moved off to get where he was. For me that's not on him. Keepers can save those.

Yeah but I'm thinking did townsend move to get in the path of it, pickford then got a finger to it and changed its direction.

Dunno if this has been mentioned, but watching MOTD now just noticed that after his goal Townsend grabs Iwobi, looks at the fans, and theatrically points at him to say 'it was this lad's assist'. Really nice gesture to make to support a player under fire from the fans.
