Andy Gray: Martinez Not Helping Lukaku

@davek - the simple facts have blown your latest excuse for Martinez complete failure in the league this, season, right out of the water, so you resort to patronising nonsense comments as opposed to actually backing up your argument with anything than your usual wum style bluster.

btw we won 2 of the games directly after our EL ties, and lost 3 - with the defeats at United and Spurs being 2 of them. The only game you could have maybe say had been affected by the EL was Palace home, after we'd been given the runaround for 40 minutes at home to Wolfsburg.

So one game accounted for.....we've won 6 out of 28.

1 game in the LC and 6 EL games over the space of 6 months and it's totally derailed our campaign?

Ok mate x

It doesn't feel that way, tbh. It feels like I supported my claims with reference to wider industry experiences on the issue that underline Everton is not an isolated case, and that you're flailing about with your hair on fire offering nothing to the debate.

That's the way it feels.

TBF, EVERYONE saw something in Naismith didn't they (not me obviously)?

Or cant that be acknowledged by you?

Yeah that's right. I saw an absolutely rank footballer who bundled in a few tap ins and ran around and slipped over a lot. That's what I saw in him

What do you mean 'no it didn't'...what didn't? The EL stages ended mid-December. The fact we played a second string against Krasnador still meant we had that fixture there to get through. But ok, if you prefer, we had 5 intense EL games packed into an 8 week period before the December.

Not reading much easier really is it?

Dave, the EL group stage effectively finished for us before the end of November and to try and suggest otherwise is to argue for arguement's sake.

We were all euphoric after Wolfsburg and looking forward to maintaining the momentum we had started to build in the league.

Alas it never happened....and there us no way the EL can be blamed for the collapse in our fortunes from Hull at home onwards.

BTW......you never answered my question.

Why have you given up on our chances of winning the EL?

That United game.....we were full of energy in that second half and had them on the ropes.

Only a combination of Baines missing a penno, De Gea showing his world class and Howard going walkabout on the wing stopped us taking all three points that day.

And Spurs had played an EL game the same night as us.

As for Palace.....we pulverised them for most the game and it was three individual errors which gifted them their goals.

Let me say it again.

The Europa League has not played any significant role in our present predicament.

Not read all the posts, too many TBH.

What struck was the replies by DaveK, slagging off the author, reiterating support for Rm any totally ignoring the point about how Rom was being played on the field not being conducive to him scoring goals. Essentially not getting back into the in/out argument but there is room to query the tactics employed by RM.

Yep, exactly right. I gave him Palace as a token gesture....

Have you ever wondered why your posts don't get many 'likes'? I know we're all allowed our own opinion, and it's not a popularity contest, but you ought to at least realize most here read your comments with a sigh and a shake of the head.

Jesus, I thought I was pedantic! My two most memorable players are Alex Young and Andy Gray. For me they are both Everton greats. I am not swayed by anything AG may have said off-air, I am only interested in the effect he had at the club.

Yeah, for you.

Hadn't noticed that....so I had a look - just 10,000.
