Transfer Rumour Anthony Elanga

Yes Kanchelskis and Garner, but they seem the exception rather than the rule to me.

Elanga feels more more in the vein of Schneiderlin, Cleverly, Gibson and Van der Beek. As you said, underwhelming.

You're picking on the more recent ones which, tbf, haven't all been v successful but there's been plenty of decent ones before

Howard, Neville, Saha, Kanchelskis, Garner

In a diamond you have:

Back 4
DM
2 × CM
ACM
2 × CF

That’s the point of a diamond. No one plays out on the right. Gives the full-backs more license to attack as they have a midfielder each to tuck in.
Just dont think first we have the fb to play that formation to provide that attacking threat, then what you do with mcneil was showing some form at lm you move him and set him back again in his form, or move him to lb. Agree that is good to be able to play different formations with the money this season and the state of the team. Going to a diamond would be to much of a change for this squad, also could maybe bid for this scott if the club look to loan outwide maybe would look to diallo if elanga on a perm deal, then danjuma gives us cover outwide. Then could be more for another cf and scott for am role.

McNeil is a far better attacking mid than a wide player.

15-20m is a lot compared to the initial whisper of 8m

If its that much then go for thd much better Gnonto, surely. I do think though now all our signings depend on fee and especially instalments, just like last year, Moshiri has just stopped pumping the money in full stop. We need a new striker that is paramount.

havent seen enough of him in the attacking mid role to show that, i still think you put a fb behind him who can over lap create space for him with more attacking qulaity would help him.

tell me the Utd players we bought directly from them that you think were failures. Genuinely curious.
I just did mate, Cleverly, Schneiderlin and Gibson. Even though I think we got got Cleverly for free.

Not disagreeing that we've also had some quality players from them over the years, but it was different buying players from them 10+ years ago imo.

Standards have been steadily falling at Utd for a long time. Players like Saha and Howard couldn't get into their team when it was one of best squads in the world.

Elanga has been completely dropped by Ten Hag as soon as he's come in because he's serious about trying to get back to those kind of standards.

Coming round to this more and more given the apparent fee. Think Elanga and McNeil on the the flanks appears very balanced, industrious and, fingers crossed, fruitful.

Think if we brought Danjuma in as well we could potentially be looking at something like this:

Elanga - Onana - Garner - McNeil
Danjuma
Calvert-Lewin

Obviously we shouldn’t be relying on DcL and definitely need another striker, but I don’t hate that line up which is something I suppose.
